And then all the aircraft landed and they started into the naval movement and the first of the sub combats, this one
in Singapore's harbor and it seems the Allies found one of my subs and attacked it or I attacked first or something.
I suffered two hits on a good sub. I'm going to leave him out there if I can....he's still got good TT's to launch.

This next contest is one that almost didn't happen. As I recall these DD's were escorts for a troop transportation TF
headed for Aparii and were following that TF and it seems that one of them sighted a sub and they were off to the
chase. The search was unproductive and no DC's were dropped. Empty sonar signals was the sound in background.

And THEN there was this bombardment of Kota Bharu ( I finally learned how to spell it ) and it sppears that there's a
firestorm going on ashore and that means more damage than we see now. The BB's alone were the ones shooting because
I may need the little ones to be my shield from Allied ships. I think I may have put a TT into Prince of Wales and the
Repulse both. If that's true then maybe I won't have to wait before too long before the Miri lake is for private
patrons only.

And THEN the Japs invaded Wake. The initial landing was rapid and all the troops got off the boats. I'm making this up
because I have no idea what's going on there. I'm assuming they got ashore because as I recall there going to be a shock
attack happen just because of the stacking limits or something. It's an very small island after all.

And then there was this imvasion of Kota Bharu and the escorts did their jobs and opened a way for the troops to make
it ashore and into the tree-line. We're here to stay. [ Quote from a diary ]

And the Japs landed at Vigan and Legaspi and here on the coast of Thailand and I posted this one because I thought maybe
it might be time to post something again. Once every combat or 4 minutes whichever comes first.

And then there were landings at the smaller ports on the coast of Malaya north of Singora and the lower southern part of
Thailand. And then there were these landings at Kieveng. Light losses and we're ashore to stay.

And then the shock attack at Wake happened and the Japs took it on the nose.
But maybe I can get the CA's and CL's to bombard one more time to even the
playing field a little bit. He's got lots of guns.

And then the Allies tried some counter-battery at Kota Bharu and got clobbered. They might want to just sneak out the
back way and leave the city to me.

So um......after the combat replay finished I saved the game as #4 and then used Windows Explorer to move a copy
of the file to my Tracker folder replacing the #4 that was there from yesterday ( 07Dec, T1 ) and started up
Tracker and asked for it to read a turn and it did. Sort of. It shows alerts now, shows T2 data, but the date
and last turn loaded are wrong. Tracker isn't keeping up with the turns. For some reason. Maybe it's because
of the error message I clicked over....something about bases not being the same size. Or maybe the names of the
bases aren't the same size or something. That's probably it. I'll see if I can make it do it again and grab a
copy of the screen for a cut and paste of the error. To post it.

I've deleted the trackerdb.* files and started over with the new T2 file and it initialized the database and
now there's no alerts.....I'll have to resort to combat reporter for those now. But the problem now is that
it's referring to a ship that I don't own. I looked around and it's not being build, it's not in the fleet,
I don't know where it's come from. I can't depend on Tracker for all my game navigation needs. This means
I can't give Brian the maximum game I might could have. I'll have to do everything by hand and use my MK-1
eyeballs to gauge the rates of increase and decrease at the ports etc. Okay, so be it. Meanwhile I'm
switching my RHS II anti-AI game to the stock version. It doesn't mean a restart fortunately.

So um.....I'm starting the procedures I go through when I process my moves. The first thing I do is check out the
air losses, especially after the Pearl strikes and the Manila and Singapore port raids. I'm thinking I got off
really light this time. It's not going to be so easy from now on however because the surprise bonus is a thing of
the past now. He's going to have CAP's and LRCAP's and so on going on.

I just now discovered that I lost 33 pilots today to wounds or still missing and I expect the operational tempo
to remain the same or increase in the near future so I guess this is what I have to look forward to. And some
of those pilots were some of the best too. I'm tempted to start culling the squadrons for some TRACOM pilots
but I don't want to do that just yet because most of those pilots are already in the training squadrons or they
are busy in the slot they occupy currently. I'll look into it and give you a full report.

Here's what I'm talking about. This squadron needed a better leader so I replaced him. Also I noticed a bunch
of TRACOM-qualified pilots and I'm wondering how many of them I can cull. I need TRACOM pilots but not at the
expense of the operational squadrons. What's the best mix you guys?

The squadron above has 5 TRACOM pilots out of 17 pilots so I took all but a couple and filled in the squadron
with some 60+ pilots so it's almost as good as new.

If I recall correctly submarine I-121 took two hits from DC's and is now limping to Saigon with major damage.
I'm thinking it's going to make it there and be ready for duty in about a month yard time. Maybe not that long.

Submarine I-124 bravely waded through the minefield to lay some Japanese mines and then it's patrolling that same
hex. Maybe he'll get lucky and bag something.

Here's the situation at Kota Bharu: My dudes are out of supplies so they will need at least one day of rest to
collect their beens, bullets, and bandaids. Plus, a lot of those units are Engineers and have other places to
go as soon as the fight is over here. I'm expecting some follow-on forces to land soon to take on the Allies in
the hex. Unless my guys can get it together sooner, then they will do the job.

One of my troop transports got hit by a TT and now it's on fire limping to Bataan Island 3 hexes away. It's got a
small port so the ship will probably spend the rest of the war there unless I can get it to Naha or someplace.
I think it's going to make it but what makes it exciting is that it's got an LCU aboard and I expect they are
helping put out the fires aboard. They are dipping their helmets into the ocean to get the water to douse the
fire.

If the Viet Cong of Vietnam fame were Vietnamese civilians with a little training in some simple task posing as a
soldier, were version 2.0, the version 1.0 is the Viet Minh units I'm going to be taking control of in the
Hanoi area soon. I'm not sure what good they will be, I'll have to make it a point to check them out. I'll tell
you what I find.

I've got the separate pieces of a Division in the same hex but I can't join them together and rebuild the division
because one of the pieces is got a different HQ than the other pieces so I have to change somebody's HQ. I look
for North China Area Army in the list of HQ's and it's not there. I don't appreciate that.

Here's a little bit about the situation at Pearl. These are the missions set the aircraft on T1 and it seemed to
get good results so I think I'll do the same series of strikes a second time a second day just to try to hurt the
Allies a bit more. I've damaged a lot of ships but I haven't sunk very many and so far the losses have been
light. The losses from a second strike will be higher but they were hurt on the airfield and at the port and I
think another strike will help sink a lot of the ships that are hurting. I'm expecting a restart in the near
future because of all the bugs we're finding and I'd like to get some licks in before that happens. Plus, I
happen to think that the war will probably be over in late '42 because of the crash of the economy from lack of
fuel or supplies or both.

Don't expect much from a 2nd strike at Pearl.

Neat units, and I like the idea of disappearing trails.

Either put all pilots into Tracom for when you have better planes or make some really elite Zero squadrons for sweeping. You need good sweepers at Singers and most likely for a few days in Luzon.

The strange HQ was also a problem in stock, but not for that particular unit... a base force recombination I believe. I think it was corrected by AndyMac.

I gather that you have had some personal experience. You're better at this game than I am so I'll
listen to you. I thought I'd use the same missions as the first strike so that the port and airfield
get some loving attention. Although now that the runway is shut down there's no need to do much at
the airfield except for the planes on the ground. I'm really after those ships that got hurt in the
first strike.

I'll see if I can find some more of them and post about it. There's a new unit that has a tug and a
glider. I have no idea how to use it and what it's for. I'd probably use it to haul supplies.

I've been putting a couple in each of the training squadrons and your idea about a death star of a sweeping
squadron. I like the idea of a squadron that specializes in sweeping. I'll have to do that thanks.

Sounds good. Maybe we can get Sid to eventually look at the one I found.
