Don't forget to hit the airfields and ports to try and hit the supplies there as well as hitting the fuel at ports.

Yes, been hitting the relevant airfields with the main aim of achieving supply hits. Over the course of time I find it much more difficult to get fuel hits at ports so I won't bother with that.

Right. One of those two points is ephemeral. When you do a mouseover of a base the industry figures are always +1 over actual. That only changes if it is one of your bases and you open the base screen and look at the industry directly. Subsequent mouseover that turn will show actual numbers. Don't know why that is, but it is similar to the 1 extra AV point attributed to LCUs even if they have no actual combat troops.

• Bringing some ASW groups into the area.

• The RN carriers will also move into the Celebes Sea in case there is an IJN carrier excursion. Cotabato is the marshalling area for Naha, while Manado, Talaud-eilanden, and Dadjangas serve that role for Amami Oshima, Okinoerabushima, and Tokunoshima. We have lots of transport shipping about.

• It took a shock attack after heavy Allied air strikes, but the Imperial forces got the job done. There was a single Helen raid, and our own air support made a number of effective strikes on the evil ground troops. The Empire did put up CAP of Franks and Ki-83, and out sweeps treated them roughly indeed. It's good seeing Ki-83 go down (23 of them and 3 Franks). It will take two hexes of road travel for the evil horde to catch up to the brave 18th Australian Brigade, and they will continue to have air support. Can they build effective defenses in the meantime?

• Meanwhile our forces near Mengtze are making progress destroying withdrawing enemy units.

• 6 LI hits at Hong Kong, now 70(151); 12 LI hits at Wuchow, now 12(49).

• We will be using available naval forces to harry and attrite the Cam Ranh Bay defenders while additional land troops are brought in.

• Spies turned off production in the refinery at Miri. Heads will roll!

• One more day and all the crossing forces will be in combat mode, then they will coordinate their movement with the battleships.

• Recovery of the Bde near Palembang is no longer an issue for that place as we will lift Bdes in from Batavia to supplement them.

Philippines

• Too late to move our marshalling area, so we have to move their subs.

China

• Didn't realize that I had to re-order the attack near Mengtze (due to odds below 1 to 1), so the enemy got a day of respite, but that will be short lived!

• We have troops approaching Kwangchowan (about 3 days out).

• The Chinese Army 29th Corps, 703 AV, is less than a week west of the road fork between Mengtze and Kunming. Additional units on that route are weeks behind them.

• In about 5 days our two units in the mountains marching to interdict the road between Tsuyung and the river crossing bridgehead will be in place, then we will reinforce the bridgehead and attack there.

• The intrepid Australian 18th Bde is recovering and hastening to build fortifications while the enemy marches to their new position. Allied air strikes are helping as much as possible, as is air dropped supply.

• Two divisions and a Bde are in the forest just SE of Nanning, the divisions heading for the enemy position east of Nanning, manned by an enemy division. Another enemy division is just east of our troops, and the Bde will head there as a blocking force. Also we will have another unit move to their current position to prevent them being cut off from supply just in case the enemy unit (likely a very strong Bde) just to the SE (across the river) thinks to move NW.

• Liuchow, 2 hexes east of Nanning, looks to have perhaps 2 divisions of combat power, but perhaps less. Recon is spotty.

• 4 LI hits at Wuchow, now 8(53); 20 LI hits at Hong Kong, now 69(152).

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• 1,962 AV at Cam Ranh Bay. About 783 additional AV is on the way.

• The 20th has a Morale of 40, no idea why. Commander is good, troops are 74 Experience, Disruption is 12, Fatigue is 26. Could be more Support available. Not much prospect of rest in a base for them; I'll leave them in place for a few days while the 29th marches in pursuit. This is sensible because previously routed enemy units are to the SE marching NW, onto the road stub we just captured.

• In 5 or 6 days our 702 AV unit will arrive just NW of Mengtze (from the west).

• Near paoshan, our 2 units in the mountains will achieve the road next to Tsuyung in 4 days. Accordingly, the large unit waiting near the river-bridgehead will begin moving tomorrow. Once it crosses the river we will launch a general attack on the enemy position there, our newly arrived units blocking retreat toward Tsuyung.

• To support the offensive we are beefing up air lift of supply into Paoshan.

• We have maneuvering in progress southeast of Nanning, including troops moving on Kwangchowan.

• 12 LI hits at Wuchow, now 2(59).

Saratoga, in addition to being in grave danger even without any more torpedo hits, has engine damage which will take a long-ass time to repair.

If I remember correctly, by that time she was semi-retired since her elevators only moved half as fast as the other fleet carriers so she was used for training on the West Coast.

If that Aussie unit took lots of green replacements or is at a low % of its TOE, morale suffers. I'm not sure if marching for weeks on end affects morale, but it could have been programmed. IRL it would!

If that unit is in a malarial plus marching, that would really inhibit high morale.

The unit is basically 100% filled out (or really close), and I think they are not in any malarial zone. Of course, they were a ways back and might simply have not recovered while I failed to notice.

I just watched Darchinifel's video on Sara (on YouTube). I forget the date but she became a training carrier at some point prior to war's end.

The only good thing is her fires went down form 38 to 13, that might help save her.

And Sara carried 29,204 servicemen back from the war.

It's lucky Saratoga was heading to Pearl Harbor for her final upgrade instead of repairs. She would be on the bottom already.

They can be like that transport captain who told some soldiers on the dock that he did not have berths for them but if they wanted to sleep on the deck that they were welcome to come aboard the ship. They all came aboard that ship.

• The B-29 strikes on Nagasaki/Sasebo did not fly (some strayed due to night). They are standing down until we get improved recon of the target.

• Loading and building continue at Daito Shoto.

• Positioning of ground forces for the Ryukyu Islands invasions goes very well. The next phase is to get the command HQs onto Daito Shoto to support Naha, Naga, and Amami Oshima. Soon specific assault ships and convoys will be assigned to lift the ground units and extra supply. That phase obviously conflicts with shipping lifting combat units off of Daito Shoto.

Guys, this is the first game where I used AE at-sea replenishment. It looks like they might be replenishing aircraft in the air groups (which I did not expect) in addition to the other things they do. Is that what's happening?

AEs do not replace devices, so I suspect there is a replenishment air unit in range of the carriers and it flew in some of its aircraft. That's hard coded to the 'R' squadron type, they don't have to be on a CVE.

I'm pretty sure I don't have any in range. I'll look this coming turn. I should also be able to test with one carrier TF where one squadron is down a few aircraft. Next turn the AE replenishment TF will be in hex and I'll do the experiment.

• 802 AV at Singapore. More than another 1,000 AV will cross tomorrow and take up defensive positions to protect the first element.

• Five full strength divisions plus three full strength regiments plus supporting units and armor, minus today's casualties.

• Allied air groups will stand down to recover until the offense commences.

• The good news: it's practical to plan on the enemy fortification level not getting any greater.

• This will surely cause the diversion of thousands of Imperial troops.

• Our secondary crossing forces making their own shock attack shows that our primary crossing forces did not have adequate AV to have a proper bridgehead. Our 2 units destroyed were USA combat engineer regiments.

• The tactical air support at Johore Bharu will make strikes tomorrow and the light cruisers will bombard tonight. I will consider it very good luck to avert a further disaster. The battleships are on the way back, and the RN heavy cruisers will pull back from Cam Ranh Bay where they were standing by to support those operations. Some USMC MB and AB which just shipped to Mindanao is moving to Johore Bharu to add their support.

• Consider the situation if the Empire knew that we had more units coming which would also be required to break themselves in a shock attack, and the Empire accordingly had waited until the following day to launch the counterattack.

• Disruption is high in the artillery units, devastatingly high in all other units.

• 1,348 AV at Singapore. Another Bde with 123 AV arrives on the scene of disaster tomorrow. We will find out if we now have a proper lodgment. My guess is the high casualties the Empire's forces suffered in their attack on the bridgehead has saved the day by allowing us the needed ratio.

• 1,574 AV at Singapore. Disruption in the units is dropping a good rate. The gain in AV includes the additional Bde which crossed to the island in the night and took up immediately defensive positions. Notably the Bde was not required to shock attack, so at least we have the required bridgehead. The USMC air support will pull out and head for China (Indochina for now) and the rest of the air support will stand down to recover.

• The 29th Chinese Corps crossed without air support; doh! They will have lots of air support tomorrow as they recover their senses. The IJA 14th Division was not seen approaching and arrived from a direction other than Mengtze, as they were not present there in battle on March 04. We are lucky with few squads destroyed, The 29th has been receiving daily airlift for quite some time so should be able to repair squads handily as soon as recovered.

• The other units following in the wake of the 29th are a few weeks out.

• The 26th Aus Bde at Mengtze is facing 3 units with 9,200 troops, 105 guns, and 13 AFV. Considering the units they faced in combat there on March 04, we know the 32nd JNAF AF Unit and 19th JNAF AF Unit are now to the NW, so it seems 2 out 4 of the following are present. The 26th is in great shape and has full supply, so they will attack tomorrow.

• The 20th Aus Bde, holding the road just SW of Mengtze is facing 3 units with 800 troops, 85 guns, and 29 AFV. Now with a spectacular Morale of 41, the 20th will attack tomorrow. Perhaps smiting stragglers will improve their mood.

• 11 LI hits at Hengyang, now 20(21). These 4EB will switch targets to Chungking LI tomorrow.

• 49 LI hits at Hong Kong, now 26(195).

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• Tomorrow all units to reduce enemy defenses at Cam Ranh Bay will be in place.

• Victoria Point is being closed down as an active port. Alor Star has taken the load quite well, and now we even have convoys heading directly into Indochina.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• Nighttime stuff. Elects what?!!! Get those E's!

• Operations continue at Daito Shoto: construction, offloading supplies, loading troops. LBA air support will be present in two days.

• All assigned units for Naha, Nago, Amami Oshima, Okinoerabushima, and Tokunoshima are at their assigned loading points. The three command HQ's supporting those landings are still pending lift to Daito Shoto (which is not ready to receive them). Attention will now focus on assigning specific assault shipping to those units, with Naha and Nago being priority objectives. I would love to have enough lift for all 5 targets in one sailing.

• Nearly all assigned units for the Home Islands targets (Kanoya, Tanegashima, Yakushima, and Kochi) are at their assigned locations.

• The 29th Chinese Corps, NW of Mengtze, is recovering and has split into /A/B/C to speed the process. Heavy air strikes against the opposition is helping to make a counterattack less practical.

• The 20th Australian Brigade, sporting Morale 41, will march into Mengtze to aid the assault there. There is some risk in this because the 3 units just retreated to the SE are once again marching to the 20th Australian Brigade's current position. If they achieve that before Mengtze is taken and the enemy expelled, then our two Aus Brigades will be cut off. Air strikes on those 3 units will continue and other forces being brought up will be sent in.

• 26th Australian Brigade will recover (still in pretty good shape) and await the 20th Australian Brigade.

• The next assault from the bridgehead near Paoshan will be in about 6 or 7 days. We are sending in another large unit, but due to the stacking limitations (20,000, which we are already exceeding) the units in place now will attack the day the new unit arrives and the new unit will attack the following day.

• 44 LI hits at Hong Kong, now 18(203).

• 33 LI hits at Chungking, now 106(75).

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• 2,916 AV at Cam Ranh Bay. Assault ordered for tomorrow. Based on the last ground combat, fortifications are level 5 and the defenders AV will be up to about 850. Terrain is Jungle-Rough. Hard target. Defenders had a Supply malus last time, so they should be even more short of supplies now.
