In my weeks long bombardment of Truk I found that when it ran out of supply (evidenced by no AA) the bombardments stopped hitting the troops at all. I guess if they can't shoot back and can't repair anything or operate any aircraft there is no reason to be above ground.

I do believe, based on lack of AA, that Guam is out of supply. Perfect timing - the landings will be in just a few days!

• The first of the enemy units has left the hex near Ayuthia. Next assault tomorrow. We have 1,432 AV with good supply and good enough disruption (teens). One or two additional units will arrive tomorrow but too late to participate.

• We have a strong armored unit now just NE of Ayuthia turning west to try and get between the withdrawing enemy and Bangkok. Infantry is following.

• Enemy carriers and other major elements 1 hex NW of Phuket. We anticipated this as one possibility after spotting those fleet elements in the South China Sea. The RN carriers, battleships, and cruisers are just south of Rangoon with only the cruisers spotted (due to their daily shore bombardments). We also pre-deployed an additional 14 subs to the Phuket area. The IJN has passed a TF of 4 (which will now split up) but is 1 hex west of a group of 17 subs. Those 17 will now split up to both try and intercept the IJN on its way north and be in position to harry their withdrawal. I love it when a plan comes together.

• A surprising development, our large Chinese Army corps (869 AV) has moved 1 hex east of Pisanuloke, occupying that road hex before the enemy withdrawing from Uttaradit could reach it. They had a big head start so the air strikes must have paid off. Those enemy units might have stopped moving. The lone enemy armored unit just SE of Chiang Mai has changed direction, now heading east.

• The Indian Army 50th Tank Bde, a powerful armored formation, will cross the river tomorrow from just NE of Ayuthia to just NW of Ayuthia, right into the enemy units most recently retreated in the area.

• The other enemy units there have moved from 2 hexes NW of Bangkok to 1 hex NW of Bangkok before our forces could catch them.

• The real problem with the IJN showing up in the Andaman Sea just now is that it's a really good time to keep LBA hammering away at the retreating Imperial land forces.

• Moulmein just maxed out airfield size at 9 this turn, a lucky break.

• We do have a problem with sorties on our carriers here. 0. It seems they've been flying escort with LBA. I'll see if they can top up at Moulmein (Airfield 9, Port 3).

I believe CVs need or port size 5 to restock sorties. Or an AKE/AE. Or additional NS.

Doing the turn now. Sorties will not fill. I have 15 naval support active there, and that should go up to 47 or 48 at the end of tomorrow's turn. In 5 days Moulmein will build to port size 4, maxed out.

• The troops on Guam will rest to reduce Disruption.

• Lots of engineers on Guam already, building furiously.

• Tinian is at port 4, airfield 6. One more airfield size to max out.

• Guam is clear of mines.

• Most of the CVE on station between Agrihan and Iwo-jima will head to Pearl Harbor for their September AA upgrades.

• With Truk's supply pretty much confirmed to be exhausted (think shore batteries), we are sending two ASW TF to take up station there to attack the subs (likely SSX) waiting there for our invasion.

• Repositioning a long range search squadron to Tavoy, so tomorrow we start getting search as far south as Batu Pahat (2 hexes NW of Singapore).

• Looks like 5 ships in Bangkok's harbor. The B-24's will strike the port tomorrow, but the large number of guns makes a higher altitude advisable, 13,000 ft.

• Many units including much armor will race into Bangkok to stop Imperials from leaving by rail. Other units will head SE as fast as possible to cut the roads. We also already detached a division to head east and assault Nakhon Ratchasima.

• Imperial carrier forces 1 hex west of Kompong Trach, heading NW. Only 2 carriers identified, but it's possible or even probably they are all in the Gulf of Siam.

• Our carriers being on station just west of Tavoy has brought in the Imperial carriers. Ours will move back, and the convoy bringing a division to Tavoy (fast through the jungle to Bangkok) will reroute to Moulmein instead.

• A few more days and we will have ground supply lines into Bangkok all cut.

• The 891 AV Chinese Army 3rd New Corps is about 5 days march from Udon Thani. Strategic noodle factories will fall to us.

• Indian 20th Division is bearing down on Nakhon Ratchasima. They are adjacent now and maneuvering to enter from the eastern rail side to force a retreat off the rail line. If they do that, when Udon Thani is seized we will have an open rail connection from Uttaradit to Udon Thani, facilitating movement of forces toward the coast of Indochina.

• We have two divisions beginning to make their way down the Kra Isthmus.

When I went to Thailand and Laos a few years back we flew into Udon Thani on our way to Laos. Noodles was my first thought on seeing that place name too!

• We got womped in the air, losing dozens of B-24J to CAP over the KB's. It looked as though maybe each squadron arrived without any other bombers (although a few had fighter escort), which must have greatly increased losses.

• I believe the enemy ground units in Bangkok are moving SE, so we will fly as many ground strike missions as possible despite the heavy flak.

• There is one enemy ground unit SE of Bangkok and our light tanks are moving on it. I'm hoping we can dislodge it before other enemy units arrive. In about 3 days we should have an infantry Bn there to help.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

• Dangerous passage.

DEI, Dutch New Guinea, Borneo, Malaya

• Our CVE are a couple of days from reaching the raiding position to hit shipping at Brunei. Following through on that depends on where the IJN carriers are tomorrow. Our carriers are spotted.

• In contrast to recent months, there are a number of auxiliary aircraft at Cagayan and Davao. The spotting of our CVE just south of Manado is a change, so those aircraft must be search planes.

• The presence of enemy search panes in numbers on Mindanao may indicate enemy carriers will raid in the Celebes Sea. In addition to the 17x CVE operating in the DEI (now just SE of Manado), the three Yorktown class carriers are just NW of Babeldaob.

Philippines

• Probable enemy search planes noted at Davao and Cagayan.

China

India, Burma, Thailand, Indochina

• The enemy carriers and battleships 2 hexes west of Soc Trang, heading SE.

• We have forces closing in on the hex just SE of Bangkok to cut supply into Bangkok. I still cannot tell from the map if units in Bangkok are moving toward that hex or not.

• Tomorrow we will have one additional infantry division in Bangkok and will commence attacking the following day.

• In three days Udon Thani will be invested.

• In three days Nakhon Ratchasima will be invested.

Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Russia

Overall

• No carrier info.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• All CV have finished current upgrades at Pearl Harbor, two CVL have one day to go. Upgrading as many CV fighter groups to the -5 Hellcat model but it will be another month or two before all CV and CVL are upgraded. We have so many -3 models already I'll push them out to maybe all the CVE groups. Now a number have them but plenty have Wildcats of various marks.

Pacific

• Got another one. And the hold-outs weaken further.

• Still almost 24,000 enemy troops showing on Guam, but their AV whittled down to nothing during combat today. The number of destroyed squads/devices should begin increasing dramatically.

• The enemy carriers and battleships might be approaching Borneo so our carriers will withdraw to Manado and meet up with fleet carriers there. As soon as our fleet carriers show up on Imperial search screens (Dradis?) I anticipate a change in the Imperials' plans.

• 1,707 AV in Bangkok. We assault tomorrow. The opposition scouts as 15 units, 81,180 troops, 703 guns, 697 AFV.

• We also assault tomorrow 1 hex SE of Bangkok, hoping no more enemy units arrive. They have one unit of modest strength. We will attack with 66 AV in a light tank unit. Another light tank unit and two infantry Bdes arrive tomorrow but too late to attack.

• Movements on Udon Thani and Nakhon Ratchasima go as anticipated.

• The enemy carriers and battleships were not detected by search.

Did you get units in position to block all the exits from Bangkok?

Yes, but he has a unit there and so owns 5 hex sides. Our unit attacks tomorrow. We have three more units which will be in place tomorrow or the day after. If we get the hex (and block the hex sides from Bangkok we should be able to hold it if the units in Bangkok are sufficiently weak.
