As you can see this is not the full KB complete. Kaga is lost. Zuiho struggles on bravely in the face of serious flooding. Shokaku, Hiryu and Soryo are all out and in need of repair. The damage to Junyo was light. And you might ask what I am doing in this neck of the woods. 3 Naval Guard Units are in need of rescue so I dediced to give it a go. Possibly should have been a great Allied victory but instead the dive bomber arm of the Allied carriers appears to have been gutted and the Naval Guard Units will be rescured from their supply starved islands.

Where was your carrier strike on his carriers?

After my previous brush with the Americans I have learnt that Ed has cobbled together all the big Allied carriers. That means one very big CAP. What I had available to me during this turn would not have unduly worried the Americans and Brits. In fact I think they would have welcomed a strike. It is true that with extreme weather turned on there is a good chance of a good portion of the attack sneaking through the CAP umbrella but with an under sized KB I didn't think it worth the risk. To further add to the difficulty would have been the reduction in CAP to give the strike some protection.

Yamamoto is well pleased with Yamaguchi's result. The primary objective of covering the withdrawal of the land units and keeping the transports protected was achieved. Secondly only light damage to Junyo and a good haul of the dreaded American dive bombers.
