I have yet to buy a steam game, but this might tempt me...

If you don't mind me asking how did you lose all your games? ( I assume some sort of account hack but one would think it would be "investigated" and fixed?)

you only have to prove a given account and purchases etc, and anything can be added or sorted, back up always works and now steam is safer for everyone, had 2 issues since its been up and running, and both times got 100% everything back restored with game i had taken off years ago returned

Looks interesting, you don't see many games like Goblin Storm come along, i will put it on my list and check it out me thinks :)
If your in the market for arguably the best 4x/Operational Fantasy Wargames check out the new Dominions 5 just released, i have 3 and 4 they really are fantastic.

I always think about grabbing one of these Dominions yet never pull the trigger. BUT after 5 renditions, one would think they would add FRIGGIN ships into the game!! Hey, and maybe (some) limited diplomacy too.
With the "religious" theme, this would be great for a fantasy 30 years war based mod.

I am not a big fan of fantasy in the moment i never like a lot the magical part... for me a wargame with magic is the same as legal cheats and kill the tactical area.

But this game looks more like a Panzer General meets soft fantasy... if base game is good,is mod friendly and is possible create something with LOTR, WOT or GOT (son of ice and fire) sure is going to be something to have in mind.

They don't have actual ships where you might have a battle on the water like with Total War for example but they do have a Seafaring ability that some coastal nations have that allow them to travel across water.
All nations have access to spells to various degrees that allow Magical Ships or items that allow water travel and water breathing ect. Then there are the Water races who live in the Water where they are strongest.

Diplomacy with AI is almost none existent yes apart from alliances, information sharing ect but the diplomacy in MP is some of the most creative and devious i've ever experienced in this type of game.
Because of the setting and how it sparks your imagination when you play you find yourself offering up some real creative narratives with other players and painting pictures of honour, betrail and divine right to rival even Game of Trones lol.

I couldn't honestly recommend a fantasy 4x/Wargame any more highly than Dominions, i don't yet have Dominions 5 but own 3 and 4 which for example you can often pick up Dominions 3 for a couple of coin to test the waters and if you want the expanded experience then cough up for the latest, highly recommended to those who want more than what the rest off for sure.

The game is more complex than it looks... and have very interesting features.

PD: they are going to work in a WW2 game after goblins... i think is a mistake, if they focus in fantasy they have less competition because games like this have lower competitors and goblins looks like the perfect title to expand with diferent campaigns (you can add orcs, undead...) but lets see how is the game.

Oooo release date is 19

Well, i played a lot FG but in the end i never like a lot wargames with abstract unit combat power, i prefer see number of soldiers and have some power over unit customization.... both things present in Goblin Storm, the last info offered showed that diferent clans diferent combat aproximations and you have a lot to say in the creation of your combat units... the unit types are not very varied but enough specially when you have interarms factor and you can do things like mix trolls with chaff infantry to create strong units

Lets know more about Gudhered goblin clan

For my fantasy fix I like either Master of Magic, Age of Wonders III or Warlords IV. With that last patch Warlords IV became my most enjoyed beer and pretzels fantasy game. The tactical battles of Age of Wonders III are the best and the nostalgia of Master of Magic can never be undone. This was Civilization in a fantasy setting and came about that time as well.

For a story fantasy game though there is nothing to top War of the Lance. It made you want to buy and read the books of the saga and then play the game again too. Then play the rpg's of Champions of Krynn.

I'd love to see War of the Lance updates where I could use a mouse instead of the keyboard. Beck then we used a joystick.

I agree. I refuse to buy from Steam. I will buy from GOG ((or matrix ofcourse). The Developers will lose potential customers if they only stick with Steam.

I checked the Goblin Storm website and it looks promising. It looks like it has Random scenario map generation which is a plus. Someone mentioned "abstract unit power" as being a bad thing. I believe there is always going to be a certain level of abstraction involved, in any computer game. Some have more some have less. I don't see any mention about scenario and campaign editor to add to replayability. the Graphics, although not the most important thing are extremely rudimentary. It looks like only counters are used which some gamers may not like. It would be nice if there was also a 2D unit added like John Tiller's CS. I would definetely like to try it if there is a demo out there.
