Thanks @fritzjoel! I agree but the whole pack (both titles) come out quite expensive, even in the second hand market. Most likely, I will try to find "The Speed of Heat" and get that. If not, then "Air Superiority" and when I can Air Strike to complement the SEAD missions.

For now Iam catching up with WarBirds GS Blitzkrieg by Steve Pancrazio.

@RisingSun, I have Battle of Britain, I even posted a video in the Eagle Day to Bombing the Reich forum. I think you even helped me to get it running on W10.

Thanks. Iam also trying to decide what naval simulation Iam going to adopt. So far "South China Sea" (Compass Games) is real nice, but not a simulation per see (sea)

Havent played that game in years, if they haven't update it to be compatible with Wins7 or 10, wont be easy. But if you set it up as admin and compatible with WinsXP, that should do the tricks. Unless it is DoSBox version.

So I finaly tracked a copy of Whistling Death in a local shop but have some doubts...

How are takeoff´s and landings handled? I see a sea based hex map so wondering where the aircraft takeoff from (carrier ops?). Are there random failures like broken flaps due to overspeed or alike?

How would WD compare to Steve Pancrazio´s Warbirds GS?

Love to see it re released with updated graphics and work on latest OS.

I actually got it working on Win 7 no idea how, just know after a reformat and clean Win 7 install could never get it to work again.

PC version by Roogames about f you have Win XP system it's highly recommended!

Strange, because I play a lot of old games via DOSBox on my Win10 64-bit rig, but FC2 never ran. What I get is "This program is for Windows, DOSBox cannot run it" - and then the frontend (I use D-Fend Reloaded) closes the door on my fingers.

Could you tell me which combination of DOSBox/frontend you used to run this beloved classic? I really miss it :)

Does anyone have an idea where to find a copy of Flight Commander 2 that works in Win10? That was one of my favorite games from the 90s. I'd think an updated version with new aircraft, graphics and missions would do well. The AI was already pretty good.

The sandbox mode of that game is great. I once pitted something like 48 F-86s vs. 4 F-22s just to see what would happen.

Cheers,
CC

Neither. Unless you hit that little green button you see at the bottom of his post, you will see what gets posted, both the post and the signature. He's playing a mind game, and you and wodin fell for it.

No I didn´t hit that little green button. If I did I would not be able to see any of his post. In this case it only happens on this thread.

I guess he dosen´t like my aviation comments

Thanks Aurelian.

BTW the Whistling Death rules are like going back to school, but I love it!

wow both look daunting... but in a good way. I can marvel at rule books for hours. Steve's 'Py-Table' in Warbirds, The 'PHAD' in Birds of Prey; I wonder how people think of these things.
I expect Whistling Death has something innovative and unique as well.

Enjoy!

Thanks Jack54!

Like I said, it´s like going back to school again, you really have to study the rules if you want to get anywhere with the system. But it´s well worth it I think. You have to plan ahead and you really get the feel for every move/action you take with your A/C as everything you do has a rule/event behind it. It´s a different way of flying and a fun one. Going through the three traning missions with someone else that has played a bit of Buffalo Wings and then J.D. Webster will monitor our last missions. All nice people and willing to help in the groups, real cool and very happy!
