I really thought it interesting the day to day observations that people had during and after the war. There's kind of a joke about an old Alabama game, when we beat auburn on the last play of the game in 1985 on a field goal kick. The joke goes, "If everyone who tells me they were at the game were really at the game, attendance would have been a million." - Note - the stadium seated about 65K. And it struck me that some of these people had some similar comments about how many people said, "I was with the Resistance". And the comment by someone who really was with the Resistance went something like, "Yeah, they always told me, 'I had a gun in the kitchen drawer!' but they never used it did they? But they HAD a gun! A lot of people claim now they were in the Resistance, but they never were. I don't say anything. What would it prove?"
