Harpoon. Nearly lost my job over this one. My workmate joined a BBS just so that the pair of us could download various scenario files.

I tried going back to both Classic Harpoon and CMANO but neither scratched the itch. I also tried the original Ghost Recon series.

You can't go home.

Does paying .25 for pong count (at the bar)? I bought a C-64 in '83 and Bruce Lee (only one in stock at the time) I think was the first store bought game I played. Best Wargame Battles of Nappy and Kampfgruppe from SSI and microprose I think.
The text based games (zork etc.), castles of dr. creep, Elite (had some lens for copy protection), some war game that had a dongle that plugged into one of the 2 game ports to play.
FWIW the C-64 for it's time was the best bang for the buck for gaming comp + 1541 disk drive $300.
