4 Mar 44 Unloading continued at Nago and Naha, mostly supply. Another LST is hit by coastal guns but not badly damaged. Battleships continue to bombard. 18 P-38s swept Sian, finding 28 Oscars and shooting down 12 of them. 3 big attacks today, and results were similar in all. Pardon the long text of combat, but it's worth noting the units involved at these first battles at these locations. All 3 bases will fall rather quickly. With most unloading on Okinawa complete, the CVE task forces will pull back to friendly islands to the west, while the CV task forces will move southeast and possibly head east to go hunting for a bit, if they aren't spotted in today's move. If they are spotted, they'll probably return to port for fuel and rearming. Damaged Yorktown did some minor repairs on Formosa and is now leaving Takao for Manila.
