Didn't mean to venture into the realm of personal politics. Won't strike the comment but didn't really think before I Posted...

I have a very methodical opponent. Here is his email from this morning:

I have been working at it. Ships done, cv air done, land air mostly done. It is land, Malaya in particular, that is being difficult to grasp. You made a bold, and effective, move there. Thus, I need to rethink where I am sending most of my reinforcements, and to decide which areas of the map I can concede and which I will fight for.

So, please be patient. It will get done, and soon(ish), but I don’t want to send a half-unfinished turn that will make your victory easier, but less satisfying.

Thanks for checking in,

Jorge

EXCELLENT! Looks like the Malaya Gambit has worked...

And very polite to check in, so you don't feel like you're 'hanging' there.

I wrote this morning just making sure all was OK and then got that very nice reply.

Have gotten pretty used to Dan's quick turn-flipping abilities!

Got the turn back yesterday afternoon but wouldn't you know it, I got stuck working 13 hours in the store and now am headed back to Open it just 7.5 hours later. Typical! Will run the turn when I get back...

December 11, 1941
Regional Report

North Pacific
Three TFs depart Paramushiro Jima. The target list includes Attu, Adak, and Amchitka. Troops and engineers loaded. We'll take these bases and begin construction for future moves in the Spring.

Central Pacific
Multiple TFs headed to Wake and Midway. Three CVEs (42 Claude, 15 DB, and 24 TB all are old airframes) Cover the landing at Wake. A Bombardment TF of BB's Ise and Hyuga will hit the base before landing. The MIdway Landing will make for a point two days away and will wait for the authorization to move forward pending the success of Wake. We have a total of two SNLF Assault Brigades and the Imperial Guards Regiment from Tokyo.

SE Pacific
Land and capture Tarawa.

South Pacific
Manus and Rabaul fall. A Regiment holds Rabaul with a Reinforcement TF arriving in two days with an Air HQ, BF's, and Engineers.

Eastern DEI
Ternate fell earlier and this turn sees a BF begin unloading.

Am taking a strong risk and trying to run an Amphib TF into Kendari before the enemy can get on his feet. Two days to target there...

Central DEI
CARDIV2 moves around the SE corner of Borneo. The CVLs join-up and meld into one TF now carrying around 250 planes. LOTS of targets nearby but but bad weather RUINS the day. CRAP! Move the TF so it will be equadistant from Batavia and Soerabaja tomorrow. Am dragging the coat-tails of the TF in an attempt for get his air to attack so they can be totally chewed up by my Zeros.

TFs are now beginning to load in preparation for Landings at Tarakan and Balikpapan.

Philippines
The invasion of Luzon begins as the 48th ID lands unopposed at Aparri.

A second Invasion TF is headed for Naga with follow-on TFs closing in.

A Daitai of Zeros sweep Iba today and the 28 Fighters encounter 13 P-40s. A number of P-40s are shot down for no loss.

Western DEI
Several Surface TFs account for 1 AP, 6 AKL, 2 AK, and an AM.

Brunei will be taken next turn.

TFs on the way to Pontianiak. Landing in 3-4 days.

My 4 DD TF arrives at Palembang to find no opposition. The HUGE Fast TF carrying a Brigade and Base Force will land tomorrow. This is my bid to take the base FAST!

Malaya
The Mersing Landing has the Allies seriously stirred up. A Strike Force of 28 Fighters and 40 Bombers attack the 4th ID as it moves towards cutting the RR Line permanently. Those planes encounter 21 Oscars and 14 Zero flying CAP. The CAP beats up the enemy Buffalo's and Hurricanes quite nicely and then bags about 8-10 bombers. The remainder get through but only do 8 Casualties. The ID moves 17 miles in one day.

No attack upon the Paras at Malacca so we deny the escape route another day.

China
Take hex 90,40 near Taiyuan with a 4-1 assault yielding 2,234 Chinese Cas (125 Squads)
Kweiteh falls to a two ID attack in a 116-1 result! Chinese lose 1,098 Cas (134 Squads)

SS Ops
I-165 SINKS TK Semiramis with 2TTs near Toboali
I-155 SINKS AK Demothenes with a pair of TTs just off Oosthaven

So far, so good...

I've moved as fast as possible so Jorge cannot recover and try to land a punch. As any JFB knows, a successful counter-punch by the Allies at any point in the DEI can really throw the time table way off!

Here is a portion of the note I sent Jorge with the turn a little while ago:

I will rampage as much as possible and drop some serious hammer blows. You have to keep your head up through the dark days ahead. Just remember all the defeats I handed to Dan and he still got me to surrender in June 1945…

Thought Dan might enjoy that note!

KNEW that Post above would draw in the Southern Paddler!

Losing weight but in good spirits. Mother has had a good couple of months once the Chemo wore off. We're chatting everyday and trying to get time together whenever. She doesn't talk about the 'real' situation much but it has been good seeing so much of each other and I've enjoyed it when I can get her telling stories of her youth, marriage with Dad, some crazy stuff they did together, and--occasionally--getting blackmail material on my sister.

Spend time with your parents readers. You never know how long you have with them.

Sorry if this is a depressing Post but it is real and happening within the House of Cochran.

That's no depressing at all, John. It's pretty cool to hear about you and your mom visiting and talking and having time together.

As for death, we're all heading that way. As you and I know, it's not the end. :)

Isn't this the mod in which Japan gets a boysenberry force field around select capital ships. They're impervious to Allied shellfire, right?

If you disengaged without too much damage (even better no damage to your carriers) then this is better than good. You are now in a great position to hunt down Renown and Houston (both having some damage) and others. Your screen shot appears to have you in a very good position. What else does he have lurking around in support of that TF?

Michael and I just spent the last 65 minutes trying to install Tracker. Numerous screenshots sent with him trying to 'help' me do the install. So you have the RIGHT VISION, imagine Helen Keller and the "HOT", "H-O-T", "H--O--T" scene! I am a tech IDIOT! Have no issues admitting that at all...

December 12-13, 1941
SS Operations

Long delay in Posting due to slow turn production and the end of the year school excitement. My 8th Grader is transitioning to High School so we've sort of sweated the grades for 2nd Semester. Have a smart kid who has little to no drive/ambition to apply himself in school. Looks like we saw that fixed over the last two months so that is very good news. Bet nearly all of you go through those periods in life where it SEEMS that EVERY day has 2-3-4 separate things happening in it and you feel rather overwhelmed. That could really apply to the last 10 days and the next 4-5.

OK.

December 12th
I-70 SINKS AP Henderson with 1 Shell and 3 TT just off San Diego
Ro-65 hits AK Ravness with a single TT near Balikpapan
I-156 hits AK Havildar with a single TT at Koggala

I-159 fires a full spread and MISSES BC Repulse. Too bad. Would have been sweet!

The Repulse attack occurs west of Sumatra and appears that KGV and Repulse are leaving for the IO.

December 13th
I-156 hits AK West Isleta with a TT near Koggala
