Will we be able to play with the latest tanks etc, as in Steel Panthers 2 modern warfare(where you can model your own), or is it a final date in the game

I'm not sure what years the original Steel Panthers 2 covered, but the AB era is 1965-1991 and it's possible to add more years, factions and units with the in-game data editor.

Oh good. So 1865 - 1891 will be possible, and steampunk will be coming to a forest near you sometime soon!

Well...there was a steampunk mod for freeware release.

As for post-war modern armies, they can be made as a custom mod, but the official game release would require some additional tweaks to the game mechanisms. The first thing that gets on my mind is stand-off air attacks and the increasing dominance of precision weapons. Precision-guided munitions emerged as the centrepiece of a revolutionary style of modern warfare. The clear trend since the Gulf War is that precision-guided weapons represent a steadily increasing percentage of munitions delivered: about 8% in Iraq, 30% in Kosovo, and 60% in Afghanistan. Then we have UAVs - a necessary component of modern armies - active protection systems (although Drozd existed already in the 1980s, it was acquired only by tanks used by naval landing forces, currently not modelled) and few other novelties etc.

I give Battlefront credit for including a lot of this stuff in Combat Mission Black Sea. Couldn't have been easy.

Really looking forward to this game!

Unfortunately, we haven't been yet greenlighted to disclose a release date, but it is getting near!
