The first wave of artillery has arrived 1 hex west of Chungking...another group just as big a few days behind.
One wonders how much damage they will inflict when they are finally in Chungking.

My observations are those big howitzers (everything over 100mm) really make a big difference against high forts.
240mm and 300mm have always shown up well for me.
Wish I had twice as many until I look at the supply usage, then I wish I had twice the economy to afford them.

They're worth every penny and supply point they use. Against late war Allies they're indispensable.

The only thing better are the Soviet versions!! OMG!

Mixed day on the ground, not the success we were looking for, but results are good..

Pick up a level 2 runway from the Americans, destroying two units with a landing barge invasion. Gives the perfect spot for LRCAP over Adak.

Disappointed the 3-1 didn't force the American to surrender at Sit, but forts were knocked down 3 levels.

Several pages back, I didn't see that you ever posted about the KB orders when it retired and caused it not to strike.

The reason for the retirement was almost certainly because of the engagement with the 2 Allied DMS/DM/DD (or whatever they were) earlier in the turn. Regardless of what you set the orders to (Remain on Station or Patrol Zone), CV TFs have a tendency to retire towards home port when they come into contact with a SCTF.

I didn't double check, but I think it most likely I left it on retirement, although you could be quite correct too. When in doubt I always ascribe problems like this to operator error.

I need to be careful here I don't fall to a super size CAP trap...otherwise the KB is the clear power house up here. Adak's runways are 56% damaged, but that is probably all repair and maintenance, the runways are certainly only lightly damaged.

Ulak gives a great two hex run into Adak, as well as other advantages.

The Allies are massing everything they have, and aren't afraid of throwing it all in to see what happens...so although it looks good at the moment, anything can happen. Those two modern fast battleships give me the willies, especially while the Yamato is now at Yoko undergoing some repairs.

After the Ise finishes repairs tomorrow, the Yamato priority will be changed, and we will see how quickly the system damage can be eliminated. If I want to get fancy, I could check daily and bounce repairs back and forth from the shipyard to reduce overall repair time...given the big need for the Yamato I might just do that.

I need all my AR conversions...

I make it a practice to switch ships away from shipyard as soon as they have the same estimated repair time pierside compared to shipyard. E.g. on that screenshot you have a bunch of DDs with few points of sys damage occupying Yokohama yard space.

Well, now, more explanation is needed I see.

Yoko has a fair bit of Naval support squads which adds to the pierside repair of system damage and Yamato has 0 repair points accumulated. So, putting her at the pier, and putting the rest into shipyard maximizes repairs for this day. When I get my AR conversions done, there will be tons of pierside repair points available, and the repair rate of big ships will greatly accelerate by switching back and forth between pierside and shipyard greatly increasing the ability to repair flood/engine damage.

It is a minigame, juggling repair modes.

A relatively quiet front, the scene of scattered bombardments, sweeps and air defense erupts into cataclysmic violence at the big port, where a British Cruiser force moves in and is met by the IJN light cruiser force operating in two ship hunter squadrons...

A mine hit alerts the Japanese hunters, and they pounce...outnumbered, out gunned, they look to launch the long lance and retreat....

I have been travelling, and had the immense joy of sitting next to Patrick Henry at a re-enactment of the 2nd Virginia Convention with Washington, Lee, Harrison, Jefferson and several other Virginia worthies....

Anyhow, perusing my AAR I neglected to mention there are about 4 British taskforces circling Ceylon. Two turns ago I spotted Hermes or at least some carrier presence. I have not spotted any invasion ships but surely they are coming?
