The United States and its ally Colombia have declared that they will retaliate against any threat coming from the “murderous regime of Caracas” supported by Moscow.

After heavy fights occurred in two border towns, where soldiers wearing Venezuelan uniforms have stormed, Bogotà is quickly requesting support from the United States, worried that the Russian presence in the island of La Orchila would greatly impede any major action against Venezuela without escalating the conflict.

Are we witnessing the end of the Monroe Doctrine or will the USA intervene to prevent a new Syria-style crisis at their "courtyard?"

Check the video below!

Updated and installed. Looks like lots of goodies to play with there. Looking forward to it.

At first glance I'd say in between those choices. There are a lot of aircraft scattered about, some ground units on the border (not too many), and 6 ships and 3 subs for the US. Looks like somewhat similar for the Russia Venezuela side, maybe fewer planes? But I didn't check, just read the briefing, which only gives ship names and aircraft types but not numbers.

The side briefings need a bit of work. The grammar and spelling are bad, and what the heck is an iron pungus? I've seen better briefings in community pack scenarios. Also, EMCON alpha, but both sides have all their ship radar on?

The Orbat is also all over the place.
-From the US side, they use the carrier and airwing assigned to Japan (which never really leaves the west pac). I didn't check with the home ports of the various escorts and what not but the Carrier is a pretty big one
-For the air wing itself, there should be max 12 jets per squadron. Right now, there are 47 Super Hornets assigned to the ship, but that's split (wrongly) between three squadrons. The numbers should be rebalanced and a squadron of F/A-18F Super Hornets added from the Diamond Backs.
-MH-60S should not be assigned to HSM-51 because that's a MH-60R squadron.
-The C-2s should not be on board as they are usually stationed at a nearby airfield to ferry stuff to the carrier. COD guys don't sleep onboard if they don't have to.
-VAQ-141 should have 5 jets. There are two more detachments of Growlers (which is a lot) in this scenario but all are labeled as part of the same squadron.
-A similar issue exists with the E-2s. If you want land based AWACS, these should be E-3s.
-The F/A-18C squadron is listed as VFA-34 but they are retiring their last baby hornet this very week. Renaming them to a Marine squadron (which they actually are in the database) would make more sense.
-The EA-6B Prowlers don't belong because you already have a ton of (better) jamming assets in the Growlers. Furthermore, both the Navy and Marines have retired their Prowlers AND the chosen squadron, VAQ-129, is actually a non-deploying training squadron. For Growlers.
-I confess I don't know much about USAF squadrons (I'm a Navy guy) but on first pass I immediately noticed that you have a ton of KC-46A Pegasus tankers, which are brand new themselves. I think 20 by this October may or may not be doable, but I sincerely doubt that ALL of them would get tasked to this conflict.
-Speaking of conflict tasking, there's also a lot of aircraft in a maintenance status. While maintenance woes are very realistic, the nature of this doesn't lead me to believe that they'd send a squadron of down jets to participate. What normally happens (controversially) is healthy planes are taken from non-deployed squadrons and sent to deploying ones. While they will still inevitably have issues on deployment, it's much less likely to be in numbers >50%.
-From the Russian side three things caught my eyes
-The presence of Patrol craft on the opposite side of the Atlantic. Nevermind that some of these might be from the Caspian Flotilla, that's a very tall order logistically to get them there, and doesn't offer a lot of tactical sense.
-Kuznetsov is pretty hard down right now, I think even the biggest Russian optimists might have a hard time making a case for it to be available come this October. That said, it's a nice asset in the scenario so this could be waved with a sentence in the briefing.
-It's mentioned that the Russians get the "PAK-FA" which is now known as the Su-57. But for the life of me, I couldn't find any on their side (insert stealth plane joke here). This is actually realistic because of how few and troubled they are, and on the US side adds some ambiguity of a paper threat. But for the Russians, they should be removed as a mentioned asset in the briefing, or added.

If the scenario author would like to PM me I'd be happy to help with more ORBAT research, as well as the briefing. It's an exciting and topical premise, but I think it could use a bit of polish.

Eh. This is 3 dollars so can only give 3 dollar complaints. Although weird review released at same time as scenario and easy spelling issues not fixed. Seem like issue production.

I don't know what pungus is either and my english bad. Roby?

Anyways buy anyway. Looks fun and not exact breaking bank.

It's been fun to play so far and the author has obviously put a lot of work into it. However, it is a little bizarre that Admiral Kuznetzov is sailing into a peer conflict escorted by patrol craft and some small frigates, and in a very loose formation - should there not be a Slava sailing close by, not to mention a Udaloy for ASW? This scenario does feel slightly like it could have used some feedback over at the Mods and Scenarios forum (although I know that's not feasible since it's commercial)!

Edit: Another slight oddity is that the Venezuelan ground units made a beeline for the city markers and attacked them - is the intent of the scenario to portray the Venezuelan army as war criminals? It seems a little extreme.

Difficult balancing act to get a scenario out while the topic is in the news everyday and releasing something that is near perfect. Here is a review released very quickly too. It hits on some of the points made above:

There are errors whit Colombian units and facility,
-Ernesto cortissoz international airport/CACOM 3 it is no close to (GAORI), the correct location is in Malambo,Atlantico, and that's the north of Colombia near Barranquilla

-The Kfir's loads and availability is bad, for AAW they are loaded with phyton 5 (WVR) instead of I-Derby ER or Derby (WVR), why in the ASuW mission they do not use Spice 1000?. Colombia has 22 Kfir and the current availability is around 14-16 but in the mission all are available.

-The Kfir's of Rafael nuñez international airport they have to be in CACOM 3, and if you need some Kfirs near Arauca could use CACOM 2 (Apiay,Meta) or GAORI.

-Why Colombia doesn't use A-37B Dragonfly and UH-60L Arpia IV?

It's an interesting scenario but it has many inconsistencies.

PD: sorry for my bad English

The issues pointed, both here and in the wargamer, have nothing to do with the evolution of the real-life situation employed as premise.

They refer to wrongly placed facilities (which have been there for years), poorly researched ORBATs (an outright impossible one for the Russian fleet) and very unsound AI tactics (ships radiating from the start it's the most noob mistake there is). Plus no spellchecking (anyone has discovered what the hell is an iron pungus?).

Previous scenarios in the LIVE series, while not necessarily error-free, where made to a higher standard than this.

I think this sentence from your review sums it up nicely. I'd happily pay double or triple the price of this scenario to get a scenario that will amaze me with its carefully researched details and be difficult enough to absorb me for a few days. As it was, for a little less than $3 I got a scenario that, sadly, was much too easy (and over quickly) on the US side and did not give the impression of being constructed with sufficient care. The author had a great idea for a scenario, but it really could have done with a week or two of playtesting - maybe Matrix should expand their pool of playtesters for Command Live?

I have to agree. Don't get me wrong I love everything about this simulation, but honestly the quality of this paid content is IMO not up to the standard of the majority of community scenarios. Iron Pungus indeed!!

Any chance of a quick update to solve the emcon situation, spelling and maybe the Russian task force composition? That being said then I amarilla happy to pay for all the work that the authors put into the scenarios. Don’t mean to be ungrateful.

Yes, you and others are insulting the efforts of the Community and just stop it. The designer came out of our community in this instance. He did his best given a short timeline for publication.

Absolutely. Everyone has to start somewhere. Negative reactions like I'm seeing here is corrosive, not only to the author but to anyone who's considering putting something out for public consumption. It chills the source for new content because no one wants to be harshly judged on their good-faith efforts.

I'm not saying don't provide feedback but please do so respectfully and constructively.

BDukes ... your posts in this thread are not at all offensive. A few of us are saying that the thread is not productive. That's all.

Tailhook provided too many spoilers and he should have known better. Once purchasing a LIVE, and you have issues, contact the designer or Daniele before
ruining it for all involved by going public.

You’re attacking him for have same things in pro review. Unlike reviews though he nice enough to provide directions to fix. Did he not?

Rest of Wargame world read this and think you’re pushing back on any customer that find valid things. This probably 106 times more harm then negative post.

I think you should probably not do get worked up over. You are over react. Suggest go play game, hump somebody or anything else than this
