This is why I don't use map mods.

Don't get sucked into the sexy graphics of the map mods.

Key "1" is your best friend.
Although I would prefer to have hints on terrain type in e.g. Chemkid map, it is much easier to the eyes compared to a stock colourful burst. And much easier to spot things

Not quite true, at least in my case. I'm divorced, and retired and I still can't seem to roll out the turns. RL just keeps intruding. I really need to hit the lottery so I can hire a staff. Oh, that's not for the game, its for RL, so I can delegate everything else to my minions and concentrate on AE.

I am still free with no children. So no job nor family. No vehicle and walking far gives me problems.

It has a steep learning cliff. Been playing since the classic WITP and I'm still learning or relearning stuff

I hope someone is working on a flying drone taxi for gents and ladies in your situation. I am a homebody by nature but every once in a while I need to get out and see different surroundings.
