defending same spot. He has not yet attacked the armor division at the front.

He should at least try. Blizzard will cause lots of fatigue which begets losses. Plus units resupply seems very poor during blizzard. thus, you can, by attacking, weaken these strong points. And eventually move them, and probably mangle a nice german tank division.

Orel area. I will try and control the cities. Good spots to launch tank counter attacks

Kaluga final

New Cav corp have been identified just south of Kaluga.

I may need to send in area reinforcements. The rr is not near Kaluga as well.

Line are bulging but holding. the cities cannot be overcome and act as anchors.

Looks like you have weathered the worst of it...he will start to have to transition to defense prior to snow, esp with all the tanks you don't even have on the line.

With full blizzard/no+1 that Stalino area is the absolute worst place to mount a Soviet blizzard offensive, even without Rostov being in German hands. It's probably got the biggest cluster of size 3/4 towns on the map centred round 3 urban/city hexes - enough room to keep at least an army's worth of German troops in reserve protected from the elements but close to the front lines plus the German right flank will always have the natural defense of the coastline to protect it.

In contrast the line between Orel and Kharkhov has a single size 4 town at Stary Oskol but otherwise has nowhere to shelter apart from the big cities, which are far enough apart that they can be bypassed. An offensive around there gives the Soviets the option either to head north/north east in behind AGCs front lines or to attack south towards the rail supplying S/M/G in the far south. The Axis player has to defend against both potential thrusts in positions which have no shelter and for the most part (the forests around Kharkhov/Belgorod aside) very little 'natural' defensive advantages.

Deepest Russians attacks of the blizzard commence.

This one looks pretty good but I doubt he has much behind it.

that's a super risky soviet assault esp at the end of FEB.....as german CV is starting to recover at this point.

my strategy was to leave armor at Kursk and Stalino and allow Russian to break through in between, and then I would use armor to cut off Russian spearhead. Russians never had enough below Kursk to make a dent. This is clearly late but looking at it I cannot make good pocket from where I stand.

south counter.

I also contemplate leaving nothing in front of the Russian breakthrough troops and hope he keeps his momentum forward.

But he really might cut my 1 connected rr line. Risk not worth it so I move in a few blocking uints

Here a very large attack with heavy casualties.

I am doing one large attack and 0, 1 or 2 air attacks before if I think it will be needed to get victory
