3 inch rocket; is it a British or US rocket?

and the assault on Singers was great! a level 4 fort is tough

The three inch rocket was put on stringbags to be used against U-Boats. I presume that it was used on other aircraft. The nice thing, with the hole in the hull the U-boat became a poorly armed surface torpedo boat.

Thank you. I only knew about the three inch solid shot with the two inch rocket and the five inch warhead with the three inch rocket.

Of interest is the 2 TAF which used the rockets at the Falaise Pocket.

They didn't hit that many vehicles but surely vehicles abandoned because of the attacks should count as a kill.

I wonder if they ran out of our very low on fuel...or if was indeed felt to be a death trap?

From what I read, the people on the receiving end really, really, really did not like being on the receiving end of those. The vehicles just made them easier to spot and nice targets. So they probably decided to una$$ those vehicles and their vicinity. I also read where a German unit surrendered to some P-47s which called in a ground unit to collect their prisoners.

Tanaka Force has their first surface action of the war...but it is disappointing.

Light Cruiser Sumatra is sunk around Singapore, while Texas has disappeared.

Goodbye Texas!

I flew a squadron of Vals to Miri from the KB...I wonder between them, and the Betties in Malaya if it caused Texas to retreat to the Philippines? I pulled all the Iboats from the eastern side of Luzon a days and days ago.

Try facing off against a bunch of Q-Ships as the IJ computer side invades Kiwiland. You set your Dauntlesses to naval attack and they get shredded by floating Zekes and Arados based on the invasion TFs. It takes a combined arms effort (surface ships to neutralize the AMCs and then aircraft to hit the APs and AKs) to stop that kind of thing. Anyway, good ol' Andy Mac keeps it interesting.

Cheers,
CB

For all you boneheads wandering the Pacific (according to Orphan Ann), the Japanese High Command wants to let you know that Singapore is now in Japanese hands.

Now that Singapore has fallen, Japan wants to quickly grab footholds on Sumatra and Java before the invasion bonus runs out. In addition, since Brunei fell, our 5 Naval Guard Units and 1 Tank Regiment are freed up to create an island hopping invasion force for key bases in the SRA, they are backed up by the KB, and powerful SAGs in case TF Z shows up.

Japan won't really turn their attention to Burma, until Java & Sumatra falls.

Progress at Rabaul...slow, but steady, and more importantly no losses.

Working on getting planes to support the Rabaul. Without resizing air squadrons I am very short air groups.

Losses for the day.

High plane losses over Singers, but that is to be expected as the bombers had to get thru to keep some damage on the facilities.

CC, I have played the Allied version, years and year ago before Andy came out with tiers. I did an AAR on it, my first, and I sent my turns to Andy so he could fix the AI. Good times.

When I finish this play thru, I plan to do the Allied one where I will most likely not be as successful. I am still hoping to get totally destroyed in this playthru though.

8 Divisions plus some Armor at Singers. Still in good shape...they will rest while the mines get swept and the transports move in.

Planning will start for Sumatra and Java now.

I never used Prince Higashikuni before, but I do like his high admin skill.

The shattered 18th Division is at Johore Bahru and up to 80AV now. They have a tough time resting, as they get visited by bombers daily.

Well, at least the 18th division has someone coming to see them!

I could see upping the Japanese initial air production if they were stupid enough to go to war knowing about the Allied military build up. Or set up a scenario where the Japanese attack a weakened Soviet Union, the Commonwealth, and the DEI.
