Sorry, i want to abandon.
I was planning to save before the first attack, cause the past few times crashes happened while attacking or movements after first round. So i finished the entire frontline.Transferred reserves to front, and when loading train, crash happened.
Sadly crash always happened while almost finish.
My Bad,i should 5min per save and quit and rejoin. But i have no willing to repeat same round again.

No problem! I understand ... Well, we got to where about I was against the PO, I've still got that sav file, so I will continue back with the PO. PS: I will try to make mine crash, do you recall any specifics about any units that you might have moved or attacked w/ right before the crash? Esp., did you maybe click on a British naval unit maybe? I know in NWExpB, and maybe even in NW, that it sometime did not like clicking on a naval unit and then scrolling the map ... was just wondering, maybe HBtLF is catching that bug, too. Okay, well, let me know!

Thank you Sir, the "scrolling" seems to be a trigger .... this may be related to a Mem Leak that I think was ident some months ago. It is a very troublesome issue it seems, with some very few scenes. Hard to recreate, thus hard to quash.

Not sure. I will try to re-create and send crash log to Mr. Ralph .... THANK YOU!!

@Entente 22 (August 23, 1914)

Back now to playing against Elmer (he has Germans)
resuming that save (M. Felix had some crashes so we abandoned that go)

it has been a month or so since I've looked at this one,
and I did only minimal attack / move on my 21.
There are ~29 moves remaining, and I want now to observe Elmer,
to see how he will do against my minimalist approach

will reinfaorce Brussels,
continue getting Brits toward the line

I think this scene would benefit from further update in TOAWIV?
but I ma not familiar w/ editor, will observe and maybe it will give me ideas
at least on maybe improve Elmer's "tracks"

Somewhere in a forest in France, a bedraggled soldier drags himself up out of a long-forgotten trench where poppies grow.

And so, I revisit this fantastic scenario (no matter WHAT he says about his creation), and today decided to take this one to the EOS. It is a great scene. The briefing can be reached via post #1 in this thread.

The map as I resume the game is below. It is Entente move 32 Sept. 2, 1914 :) and I am aiming to finish this great scene today while Mr. David works on slaughtering the Soviets :)

One doesn't see this mode shown much :) but I like to look at :)
I wonder how the base of the men is colored? Can one choose that color?
Is it perhaps governed by the chit background color?
General Cross, which section of the manual do I need to read to find out about that? :)

Well, you can see below the Brit 1 Cav etc. getting a bit hemmed by them Boche :)

Looks like it's the background colour of the 2D icon.

Here is almost full map at the 2D large scale
Things are moving along today! I think I can finish this scene today.
If I don't start playing Chess :)

shows German turn 39 on this one, I guess I left that turn variability thing on, sometimes Germans move twice in a row .... but I found some Reserves and trained them up to at least delay Elmer if he goes through there :)

at Entente 41
I'm not doing much except railing up reinforcements,
maybe move a few units, then cycle back to Elmer to get to end of scene.
The computer "referee" says I am a marginal defeated,
Elmer seems satisfied with that, as he is not pressing much :)

All righty, here is a shot of the two different modes, 3D on the left and 2D on the right.

I play (move the guys) using 2D mode; but I really like to look at the 3D mode of critical areas; it seems to immerse me into the game more, but I do really wish there were a toggle or menu where you could easily choose and apply color you want for the two opposing sides in the 3D mode. :)

And for the last moves, I simply railed reinforcements to the front and cycled the turn for Elmer to go, so as to move the game along to EOS (shown below) and to see how Elmer would do like that. He scored a significant victory.

Here is the EOS shot I got; will write more detailed review of game to wrap up and then it is on to the next scene :)

Final thoughts: This is a fun scenario, despite Mr. Porto's misgivings about his creation. I am glad that he chimed in (see post 2) and I encourage any hi-falutin' hot shot sceneario designer to give this one a look and perhaps tweak the PO a bit and we'll have any even better, more fun, more challenging scene for our WWI interest.

The PO (on strong, plus 2 "cheat" settings) was not aggressive enough, I thought. Compared to McBride's PO in OpMars (AAR in progress) I think it would be very challenging given an update. And because TOAW has an editor you can use, YOU, yes YOU, dear reader, may find fame and fortune updating Mr. Porto's fine creation. He gave you permission (see post 2).

I liked this scenario very much, especially the map. I hope to see a revision and update.

Thank you Mr. Porto for so much entertaining fun. Kudos! I think your scenario is pretty darn good.

I like the 3d terrain, but to me the units look really really bad.

Yes, I agree some more detail on units, but some do look pretty cool like armored trains and the little planes. At least as is, they give me a bit of nostalgia for the little green Army men of old :) Loved that prone machine gunner!

In old days our rule was, must turn the prone machine gunner or rifleman over onto his back to score death on him, was very hard to get him if placed right :) had to use big Tonka Truck to slam his entrenchment and hope to knock him up in air and over BOOM :) we sure had fun back then :)
