Turns out it was a display bug. Numbers were distorted all over but actual values were fine. Game randomly added spaces to displayed numbers and fonts got green in the menus, fixed after a reload.

I tried the new scen as suggested by Yaab and so far it’s better - particularly with air units which are less suicidal. Only Dec. 20 by now but no suicidal carrier attacks, which is good - AI raided north of Midway but kept its distance.

FAA DaBabesLight is a great scenario and the guys put a lot of effort into it and it is definitely playable v the AI but it is basically scenario 1 ie historical and I would never recommend playing the AI on any version of scen 1 - to be effective in that scenario the AI has to do everything right and a scripted AI simply cannot do that v a player

Andy

Good timing.
I just posted a rambling question but let me ask here also:
For Japan AI, to be a challenge to a mediocre player like me (historical is not a challenge, scen 023 AI did not take Palembang ever), it has to be ironman, correct?

Go with Ironman Allied?
Did you go overboard insane with Ironman 2 scenario as a challenge?

Thanks for all your work in this game, much appreciated

Depending on the level of difficulty you want

Scenario 1 - Very Very Easy
Scenario 2 - Very Easy
Scenario 10 - Easy
Scenario 22 - Normal
Scenario 21 - Narmal to Hard

All on normal difficulty

Increase game difficulty will increase above

Also HR's can make it more interesting when I play scen 21 for 1st 30 days I am only allowed to issue 1 order per day i.e. move one TF or create one TF or move one sqn

Makes life interesting !!!

Time and time this question is asked. It really is pointless. It is not the specific script, not the particular scenario which matters. Any scenario/script (yes even Nast Nasty Tier 3) will cease to be competitive if the Allied human player focuses on stopping at all cost computer Japan from capturing in 1942 these bases:

1. Singapore
2. Manila
3. Clark Field
4. Bataan
5. Palembang
6. Batavia
7. Soerbaja
8. Rangoon
9. Mandalay
10.Rabaul

These bases are absolutely essential for any computer script.

Not quite essential but still of great assistance in maintaining a competitive AI player is for these bases to also be captured by the computer.

11. Port Blair
12. Port Moresby
13. Tarawa
14. Shortlands
16. Lunga
17. Akyab

All these bases (with the exception of Port Moresby) were historically captured by Japan, and it wasn't enough to make Japan really competitive in the war. Why do human Allied players believe that denying the computer these bases will allow the AI to remain competitive when the real life Japan with these bases wasn't competitive.
