Wow! You have really been doing a number on the IJN cruiser forces the last couple of turns! Great job!

Strange that almost every time your Liberators attack Loemdjang (sp?) they destroy a Jake on the ground. I wonder if that is just a standard FOW the AI is using or have you seen Jakes mentioned in the Ops report doing searches or ASW?

I think their base is out of supply or too damaged, so planes there cannot fly.

I think their base is out of supply or too damaged, so planes there cannot fly.

My question is about the Jakes - whether they are actually there or not. They are FPs so they don't need the airfield, but supply could be an issue.

WTH? Your last combat report was Sept. 4/43, and the sunk ship list shows Zuikaku going down Sept. 6/43. If that is right, you have some good news coming soon!

Very unlikely that Zuikaku did sink...no planes in "destroyed on ground" category...pity...bagging an CV would have been good.

On the other hand, finally got Tulagi.

I think you are right. No extra explosions or fires so the carrier is only lightly damaged. The AI routinely shows any ship hit by a torpedo or mine as sunk. Always good to send an enemy carrier to the yards for a few weeks though!

Wonder where these guys are going...

With no transports detected nearby, I would suspect a raid near Colombo or Diego Garcia. Odd that no escorts are mentioned. Chances are that it is poorly escorted - an AI tendency. If you can reduce his aircraft or sorties considerably, a surface combat intercept could follow with little risk ...

EDIT: Subsequent reports show that it is indeed raiding at Addu and Diego Garcia. The really good news is that it is wasting sorties on ground attacks with no sign of a follow-up transport force to land and take those islands. Keep counting sorties - carriers usually have about 3 sorties X aircraft capacity. The unfortunate thing about the ground attacks is that the carriers have not used any torps yet.

I have basically nothing to counter them in that side of map...unless they come near to Colombo or Port Blair and my LBA.

And I sure as hell won't send CVL Hermes with R-class battleships after them!

Reminds me to re-rout one troop convoy (empty) so it doesn't stumble to those.
