Or maybe Lowpe's opponent was dismayed at the number of posts in his AAR before the game even started, so he lost his mojo and decided to create a new mod to play?

He did mention this twice in emails....he was shocked at the progress of the AAR.

Well, let him get shocked once more.

Where is Dan with a picture of a tree when you need him?

Was it Alfred leading us on?

In all honesty, I would have preferred having a game than getting 18 pages without a turn. Hall of shame award, methinks.

More push? How about a conspiracy theory that Nemo was advising the Japanese side to pretend to be serious about playing to upset his opponent, thus setting up the opportunity for a Nemo-Lowpe game!? Now that would be fireworks to watch!

Can we start a Kickstarter/GoFundMe to make this happen? A $25 dollar contribution gets you a tshirt or something.

Checking in and surprised to see still no turn! Anyways, I am sure you will find many willing opponents if this does not pan out. Only issue I can think of is that you might have to change your initial plan a bit from what you have given away here.

I got the first award for getting my ass kicked by Obvert, and now this for absolute lack of ass kicking.

Lowpe is just trying a novel literary technique.

He'll lull is into a false sense of security then hit us with a shocking Dec 7th turn, replicating the shock and surprise of the USN at Pearl Harbor. "Doing a Lowpe" will enter into AE lexicon in the same manner as "doing a Greyjoy".

I suspect that "Doing a Lowpe" is already a part of forum lore as in accidentally creating a fubar situation out of nothing and heroically rolling with it :D

That was fun to read and I think that he did well with it. It certainly was different.

Sure the first turn could appear in Lowpe's inbox 1 minute after this post but ....

This AAR commenced on Saturday 11 July 2020.  Twenty four days later, the first turn from Japan has not yet been received.

Lowpe'[s opponent is not of AE Grandmaster strength.  Not even of Master level.  His track record on forum questions does not exhibit any mastery of the game.  Nor even of understanding the game mechanics and concepts.  That 24 days have elapsed discovering how to finalise the first turn is a clear cut indication that every subsequent turn will drag on as he will have to relearn game mechanics and concepts every single turn, every time he is surprised that his orders failed/was surprised that Lowpe could do that.

Why is Lowpe wasting his time here.  It is well time that an ultimatum was made.  The first turn received within 2 hours or the game is off.  Personally I wouldn't even give 2 hours, instead just informing him the game is off immediately.  Either Lowpe's opponent already has a turn ready to be sent or he is still learning how to play AE.  No one seriously believes that it would take Lowpe more than 48 hours to get an offer from some other Japanese player; pro9bably one of a higher standard

And no, vid problems or any other hardware issue is not a valid excuse.  If they were, he would not have opened his thread on how to maximise Japan's advantage of the first move.

For someone to take this long to do the first turn, after all of the advice that he was given, I think that he would soon be overwhelmed.

I would love to cross swords with John, but his mod has too many units for me. I doubt he would be willing to play anything else, and I think he has 2 games going now anyways.

Hard to understand to be honest. He promised me a turn Saturday. Then changed it to Sunday. Sunday afternoon I get an email saying he is bad with deadlines and spent 3-4 hours on the turn already and asking me to bear with him as he is working thru Japan. I fully expected to get the turn Sunday near midnight...

2 emails of mine later he respond just recently (Tuesday) that he has finished Japan and will get me the turn by Friday or earlier no matter what as he wants to do his primary invasions and test things.

Heavy rains here and some minor flooding...and according to my wife we are only in the yellow stage of the storm. We have yet to work thru the orange, red and black. Or something like that.

I hate how all the powers that be treat everyone at a 3rd grade level.
