At the beginning of Turn 7 South West of Moscow, two major Panzer spearheads are seen attacking towards Bryansk.

Soviet Air Force Recon determined that there was an unescorted FBD rail repair unit just North of the Pripet marshes, STAVKA was alerted and a Soviet division was transported to the area by train...

The Soviet division unloaded from the train and routed the FBD to Minsk, also destroying a rail hex that was repaired by the FBD this turn.

At the end of Turn 7 South West of Moscow, a new defensive position was set up north and south of Bryansk, trying to avoid an encirclement next turn by the Panzer units.

North West of Dnepropetrovsk 3 Panzer divisions successfully attacked and moved across the Dnepr river.

Because the Dnepr river defenses had been breached during turn 7, to prevent the possibility of a major encirclement next turn a general retreat was done in the South.

The situation at the beginning of Soviet Turn 8 West of Moscow - the Soviet defenses in depth are effective in slowing the advance of Army Group Center.

At the end of Soviet Turn 8 in the South. A defensive line is set up between the cities of Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporozhye and the factory complexes around Stalino. Cavalry divisions are used to try to reduce the supplies received by the Panzer spearhead advancing towards Kharkov.

The Fortress at Odessa is holding out well against German infantry attack supported by concentrated artillery and pioneer support.

Just one small thing that jumped out at me is that you could assign 1-2 armies in the center that are reporting directly to STAVKA to Moscow MD.

Following your advise, on Turn 10 which I am presently completing, I have reassigned an Army which was originally assigned to STAVKA to the Moscow MD (It is near Moscow). I then also reassigned units assigned to STAVKA digging in within 5 hexes of the Moscow MD to the Moscow MD, I think this should help them better build fortifications.

Situation at the end of Soviet Turn 9 Bryansk area. Due to the large number of Panzer and Motorized units just north of Bryansk, I decided to retreat further east as I think there would be a high risk of a large encirclement in the area next turn.

Situation in the South at the end of Turn 9, was able to cut off 2 Panzer and 1 Motorized units. Also set up Soviet defenses just west of Stalino, hopefully providing enough time to be able to safely evacuate the factories in Stalino.

Army Group North unsuccessfully attacks across the Neva river near Leningrad. It appears that the German aim is to capture the Port of Osinovets to isolate Leningrad instead of advancing towards the Port of Sviritsa.

South West of Kaluga, only the infantry of Army Group Center advanced east, the 4 plus Panzer Corps from the last turn (encircled in red) stayed stationary - accumulating supplies and probably using the HQ unit supply buildup. A major Panzer offensive appears to be in the plans for next turn.

Army Group South advanced both north and south of Stalino - but fortunately the Soviet defenses were strong enough to prevent a pocket from being formed. A Panzer division placed a ZOC on Stalino which has not yet evacuated its factories to safety. I think this shows the benefits of leaving a strong Soviet garrison in Odessa - as it prevented Army Group South from advancing infantry that is presently being used to attack Odessa.

The Soviet Garrison at Fortress Odessa held another 2 attacks from Army Group South - this is the third turn that the garrison has resisted capture, preventing nine German infantry divisions from advancing further east and helping in the Axis attack towards Stalino.

In only the second attack by Soviet Forces in this game, 8 Soviet divisions attacked and forced the retreat of the 13th Panzer division eliminating the German ZOC on Stalino. The 13th Panzer took significant loses for a German unit in August 1941.

The situation at the end of Turn 10, the concentrated mass of Panzer and Motorized divisions mentioned earlier is probably either going to attack towards Moscow or Tula. Hopefully the Soviet defenses will prevent a breakthrough.

This was a rough week for the Soviet army. It stated in the North where Army Group North attacked and successfully crossed the Neva River with 3 Infantry Divisions threatening the port of Osinovets.
