How long do you think you can keep the Carriers on station around the Marianas Lowpe?

The Empire is upset -- from a secret communication channel (with approval):

Screamed into my coffee when that 20cm shell bounced off Lexington's flight deck :-)

Those SBD drivers were very impressive. I didn't think they could hit anything for the first 6 months.

Working on Lok's turn today...so this one probably won't get finished till tonight or tomorrow.

Not sure...I was tempted last turn to go meet the Baby carrier and battleships coming from Formosa...would have worked too, but also cost some high value ships from the thundering herd...

This can't be meant seriously. There are lot of examples in AAR section how to punish Japan early.

It is hard to nail Japanese SAGs (with cruisers) early on with SBDs. CLs are usually very vulnerable because of weak flak, but cruisers with decent AA destroyers it is tough. Japanese merchant ships of course are easily savaged.

Well is possible to decimate KB early so how can anyone with experience rely that SBDs won't hit cruisers

I rarely start reading AARs so early in the campaign, but this one looks really promising.

By the way, I love that map, I think I’ll download it, if there’s a version for stock.

Thundering Herd continues there retreat...not sure how he is getting torpedoes on these planes as the runways are size 3 in the Marianas.

Lots of torpedo carrying planes strike...Betties/Nells and Mavis...for some our CAP works well...the only torpedo hits are on relatively worthless ships that are straggling.

Found some hunting cruisers...our Swordfish were using bombs, expecting a fast transport type invasion of Diego Garcia. NO hits...

I believe the KB is somewhere in this area...perhaps he is going to come at PM past Horn Island and grab Darwin while he is at it.

My experience has been that size 3 with an Air HQ and enough supplies having Nells/Betties with torpedoes are no problem.

Singkawang (3) and Rabaul (3) early in the game.

I always thought it was size four. Show what I know.

This issue was covered in this thread 3 weeks ago.

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4887023&mpage=1&key=

There is an old thread where the specific quantums are listed. I decided to not provide that data as it can be retrieved by those interested.

Due to the holiday I didn't finish the turn till this morning.

Enterprise and Lexington put themselves into harms way, hopefully steaming into the wind. Only assigning 11 F4Fs for escort duty...One small Cruiser SAG is guarding the carriers, plus of course some elements of the Thundering Herd might get in the way too depending upon enemy dl.

Bad luck today...as the Japanese pursue and catch a decent xak fleet of the thundering herd...we hoped for a Carrier strike retaliation on the light cruisers, but alas, weather scrubbed all our offensive flights.

I had thought to use a CA SAG to protect them, but it would be too far away from the carriers to protect...

My mistake, the light cruisers fled after the engagement or weren't spotted, while our strike was set for 6 hex range...

Currently we have 60K troops in a 40K hex with 1270 AV facing off against his 14 stack spearhead near Nanyang. No AA yet, but good terrain and some have forts 1.

The Red Chinese look like they should be able to escape into Sian and out although it might be close.

Down East of Kukong, we have stopped for now the Japanese assault.

Supply in China climbed to 128K today...we are reinforcing AA guns and support squads to select units. Which means the Chinese Divisions in India and Burma are only pulling support squads for now.

American ground forces now in Australia, along with 3 fighter squadrons from Pearl.

The lone Aus AA unit is protecting 400 resources at Cloncurry, while the 2nd KNIL AA unit is loading onto trains for the long movement from Darwin to Alice Springs.
