ORIGINAL: RFalvo69 War in the East is, IMHO, the best choice right now. It offers a lot of scenarios and campaigns (from small operation to the whole war), it is not really that hard to learn, and it is hard to learn how to play well - always a plus in my book. You also can find a lot of online opponents in the dedicated forum. Decisive Campaigns Barbarossa is simpler, but introduces an interesting role-playing aspect: you are the middleman, stuck between a demanding boss and prima-donna generals. Quite realistic IMHO. It only covers Barbarossa, toh. The Operational Art of War IV has tons of scenarios set in the East Front, from mind-numbingly detailed campaigns to simpler operations. You also get all other theatres and scenarios ranging from horse & musket to modern day. WitE, however, is more "dedicated" and (still IMHO) even a bit simpler than TOAW. Before committing your hard-earned money you could wait for WitE 2 - which will use the more refined and detailed War in the West engine. However, I play WitE since when it was published, and it is a perfectly fine game. That does it, several recommended, well those expansions this time, the DLC´s for WitE are mine. I better get those before January 10´th, hurry! No, no hurry. I personally dislike the general idea of those add on expansions common for games nowadays, smells like profit spirit but this is the exception! No rule without exceptions and lets see how many for the WitE game... TWO, and they´re 50% discounted these days. Should i do it? Or wait for WitE 2, now i became hesitant, again. Heh - "It´s a perfectly fine game", and that price is not a whole lot of money. SOLD
