The stalemate in China continues - albeit 42nd Army on the coast north of Tsinan took a pounding.

It was a bad turn in the Med for the Allies with a US army lost when its transport was sunk, and a British army lost thanks to heavy German air and artillery...

Most of my reinforcements reached the desert however.

In the Soviet Union, the Germans maintain a safe distance - presumably this is pending the onset of winter? I am nowhere near strong enough to chase after the Germans however.

Re: air units not attacking. Alas the graphic showing rain or storms at sea is rather subtle and easy to miss, but if you hover your mouse over a given space it will tell you what the weather is there.

APOLOGIES FOR THE LACK OF PICTURES. NORMAL SERVICE TO BE RESUMED NEXT TURN

It's a quiet turn in China. The British garrison in Hong Kong comes under attack however. British forces under Slim move into China and as far as the FIC border, flanked by two Chinese armies and a tank unit.

In the PI, the Manila garrison is down to its last reserves - 3-strength left and no ability to reinforce.

A British naval task force moves toward Java south of Sumatra. A light cruiser squadron is severely mauled, but a Japanese destroyer and carrier are sunk by a combination of BB and cruiser attack (with a little carrier strike starting proceedings).

The above is part of an operation to reinforce Malaya and a force under Mountabatten.

In the Mediterranean, the USN continues to take a pounding, losing a heavy cruiser squadron to bombers. Maybe coming through the Med was a bad idea.....

On the high seas my destroyers are being overwhelmed by u-boats once again. I have big losses in the North Atlantic, in the Arctic, and in the Indian Ocean my heavy cruiser gets surprised by a German surface raider....

In the Soviet Union the Germans remain on the defensive. I can only continue to assume this is because of the weather.

It's a New Year!!.....

The PI falls and Mac is sent to Australia.

In the NEI, a Japanese naval bomber unit causes severe pain to my carrier and I decide caution is the watchword here. The task force makes a retreat.

I lose another army in the desert. It's all a bit of a mess to be honest... but then that must come as no surprise....

In the Soviet Union the stalemate continues. As was proven in the desert, I can't afford to come forward from my defensive positions - certainly not until I have some aircraft and HQ. I have some partisans that are able to cause some annoyance in the Caucasus.

The US take Tarawa and Majuro. While in FIC, an armoured corps takes losses from the Japanese corps in Hanoi, but continues south to try and take as much of the country as possible until it's luck runs out.

In the Med I lose another transport - goodness knows what was loaded aboard that. I decide to just pile through with the rest of the transports and see what happens.... could be carnage. I think it's fair to say the Med is closed...

Still nothing in the Soviet Union. I do some limited reconnaissance to see if I can gauge how far back the Germans have moved. I uncover just two units....

A tough, tough turn for the Allies.....

Hong Kong falls to a determined air and land assault. My armoured corps south of Hanoi is almost wiped out by air attack.

Undaunted the British forces head south toward Hanoi to try and win by sheer weight of numbers. The Chinese agree to deploy three armies and a tank corps on the British left flank.

The Japanese appear to have a number of aircraft in the south and so to try and relieve the pressure in the south, I order an attack in the north.

In a wonderful display of Chinese brotherly love, the Communists are given Tientsin to allow 41st Army to join the attack, aimed at Tsinan.

The Japanese IV Corps is brushed aside, allowing for exploitation by two Chinese corps - an infantry and an armoured corps - which create a bridgehead over the river, and the lead elements reach Lake Yangcheng, splitting the Japanese forces.

The Med remains a total balls up. I manage to lose another carrier and transport (I think loaded with a US HQ). Pathetic decision making....

In the Soviet Union the stand-off continues....

In the southern USSR, Zhukov's Transcaucus Front, moves into the Caucasus with a view to taking Tblisi and Baku. Neither objective is reached (although Partisans occupy the former) but hopefully the Axis only have the Romanians in the area....

I wonder how your research for China is going. At the least, you certainly should be upgrading your anti-aircraft to counter the Japanese bombers.

However, one interesting thing I noted is that Chinese income has been higher than Japanese income across your games.

The Soviets continue on into the Caucasus, destroying a Romanian HQ in the process. I push a corps forward on a recce mission and see that the Germans are using the river lines for a defence. I hope that any units required to deal with Zhukov will weaken this line. We shall see.

Should I be knowing what enemy income is? If so then no probs, but please don't tell me anything I shouldn't be aware of.

Research has stopped for a while in China. I'm trying to overwhelm with numbers....

A great battle is in progress for the Marshall Islands

A corps lands but is met with two SNLF forces and is battered into an irrecoverable situation.

To the south, two Japanese submarine squadrons take on my fleet. It takes every destroyer and every carrier to destroy the subs as they kept diving... The problem now for the USN? Where is the IJN?
