Setting seems to be a Japanese South Seas Mandate island.

That's some surreal anime. Too much LSD in the miso soup that morning.

Good use of combined arms though by the Mickey Forces....snakes, alligators, and bats. Nice!

Yeah, the only element missing was Walt Disney's elite cadre of copyright lawyers.

I though that LSD was developed after the war. But here is proof that it was developed earlier!

Hmm...seems Japan in the end was saved by a Kamikaze magical cloud. Could this have been well received in the US? What was Disney thinking of? Or was this really a Japanese production?

Paramount Pictures might have had a suit too. That looks like a Felix the Cat clone acting as master of ceremonies. The whole style of the short is very reminiscent of famous US animators of the time, such as Max Fleischer and Ub Iwerks.

It really is a Japanese animation production, but I doubt it was ever seen in the US prior to the war. Apparently, it concerns the pending expiration of a naval treaty between the US and Japan in 1936.

Really strange. Japanese culture, as far as I know, was really more Samurai/strong back then, not cartoon. But when I was last there the train station was full of shops selling silly toys (silly IMO). I think you would need a lifetime of study to even come close to figuring it out. And my (mostly female) team - think I mentioned this before, could drink me under the table. And then you have the 'baby doll' thing happening as well (women dressing as children). I learn new things every day.

It probably is as the Japanese may have been more exposed to the idea of the upcoming variations of landing crafts as they had
a tradition of cooperating with the British on the naval construction side. Most of the LCMs and LCTs were British designs from the outset, I believe.

New Theory: The 1940 Oil Embargo was imposed on Japan because of their refusal to respond to repeated cease and desist letters from Disney lawyers on copyright infringement

You laugh, but these days you would rather face the US Navy than a group of Disney lawyers after you've smeared Mickey like that!
