I fared better in the air war. I lost 4 P-40Es, all to ops loss, so no pilots were lost. I lost 3 Hurricane IIc,
2 air 2 air and 1 ops and two pilots were lost.

So it comes out to 19:7 ratio, not all that good, but I will have to live with it.

I took Ontong Java with a Marine Raider unit fast transported. I am not sure if I will build it up or not.

An even worse day at Akyab. He sent bombers at night swept during the day.

I lost 14 aircraft 7 Hurricane IIb ( 3 air-2air, 1 ground and 3 writeoff)
6 P-40E ( 3 air-2-air, 2 ground and 1 write off )
1 Hurricane IIc on the ground

I lost 2 USAAF pilots and 2 British pilots.

I also have 41 damaged aircraft at Akyab

In return I downed 11 IJA aircraft( 9 Ki-43-Ic and 2 Ki-43-1b )

Ugly day for the Allies

And as expected all 3 xAKs at Akyab sank
but all others got their fires put out and returned to port.

At Vela Lavella he could have been airlifting the last of his troops out by transport or Patrol Aircraft. Either that or the unit dispersed because there was so little left of it, allowing the base to flip with no battle.

I'd say the hits were FOW then and only one actually damaged her and even then you were quite lucky with the die rolls that she took only that light damage. I've seen three 250kg bombs sinking heavy cruisers if they didn't get into a port soon enough.

Are you playing a mod with reduced bomb damage?

No, this is Andy Macs updated scenario 2 with extra bases. I checked with my other game that is a standard scenario 2 and the 250 kg bombs have an effect of 370 in both scenarios.

Just dumb luck I guess. Note that one of the hits was an ineffective belt hit.

A note about KB

On Nov 24 my mouseover showed 179 fighters and 204 bombers
on Nov 26 my mouseover showed 272 fighters and 266 bombers

Not sure exactly what it means. There is always some FoW in the
mouseovers, but that seems to be a lot, and he might have merged
some more CVs with his original KB.

I sent 72 B25C/B26/B26B on a night bombing mission at Magwe, targeting the oil
60 of them found the target and bombed. Mouseover shows I damaged 20 oil.

Tonight I target something else.

CL Trenton, CL concord, and DD Nepal all made it to a friendly port.
xAP Soochow looks like it will make it, barring further bomb hits
AVD McFarland looks bad, fires went up to 44 and sys damage is at 83,
I fear she will not make it.

KB has disappeared again.

My bombers in India hit a small LI in Burma with no hits!!

KB is two hexes East of Green Island and he launched a port attack
on Vella Lavella, sinking xAP Soochow.

He does seem to be playing ropeadope with KB. I am not worried, he is just
expending fuel for no real gain.

My Subs were active this turn

SS Tuna was just moving to her patrol location

This was a BOOM and a DOINK
Submarine attack near Palembang at 49,90

Japanese Ships
PB Heiyo Maru, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage
PB Mikitade Maru

Allied Ships
SS Salmon

SS Salmon launches 2 torpedoes at PB Heiyo Maru
============================================

He made 4 night bombing runs at Silchar, I have night CAP up, but none showed
up. Nothing in the Combat Report and nothing on the replay animation.
The weather was Thunderstorms, so maybe they just didn't find them or
couldn't take off.

He got no hits, but lost 3 Salley bombers, 2 Flak and 1 ops

===============================================
I made 10 attacks on the Resources at Mandalay
93 bombers made bomb runs, I lost 1 B-26 to ops loss, and I got about 4 hits
the weather was really bad, Severe Storms.
Forecast is for rain again, so I will keep all my bombers on the ground tonight.
I am flying these missions mostly to gain experience for my bomber crews, I do not
have enough long range fighters to be able to do daylight bombing at this time.

KB moved 9 hexes to the East, it is now 11 hexes directly East of Green Island.

Nothing happened.

Well there were two things I guess.
I got my first LST today.
And I got my extra US Army division from my variants.

Guess that's going to have much more effect than the extra US Div. At which replacement rate are the Hellcats coming?

The F6F-3 have a 130 per month rate. I accelerated their development by 4 months.

I think I would not have taken the extra Infantry Division if I had it to do over.
But I was trying to strike a balance between all the types of variants.

A couple of intel items I have picked up on.

He is accelerating the A6M5c but not the A6M5 or A6M5b
He is accelerating the D4Y4 Judy but not the D4Y1, D4Y2, or D4Y3.

Do you have a hr about R&D? He would get the D4Y4 way faster if he would research the first version and then just go 1, 2, 3 to 4 and not directly for the D4Y4 which will take him most likely 1,5 years longer that way. Same for the Zeke.

Hi caster troy, we have no house rules, he is free to do what he wants. But I am also able to do what I want.
I wondered about that. I also thought he would buy two Ki-84a factories with his variants, but he chose to
buy two Ki-84r.

Nothing much happened today. He had a DMS at Palembang and swept the mines I laid before. I only got one PB with them.

Well, 365 days into the game. We did turn 1 on August 31, 2021 and now, 116 days later we just did turn 365.
That works out to 3.15 turns per day( just about PI )

On the ground a DA by me at Arakan Yoma C

A mouse over shows aircraft in this TF 63 fighters and 68 Bombers.
It is now 8 hexes NE of Tulagi.

I am going to roll the dice a bit. I have 38 TBF-1s and 57 DBs at Tulagi
with a good number of fighters to escort and some to CAP.

My Death Star is at Tabiteuea and is now moving West 9 hexes to be closer to KB.
I think it will be out of range for this turn, I need to see what might happen.

I have a SCTF with 5 old USN BBs that will move to Tulagi this turn.
One never knows what might happen.

I expected.

KB hit a small amphibious TF unloading at Vella Lavella
Morning Air attack on TF, near Vella Lavella at 110,133

Weather in hex: Moderate rain

Raid detected at 31 NM, estimated altitude 21,000 feet.

Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 2 disabled
Engineers: 2 destroyed, 3 disabled
Vehicles lost 6 (2 destroyed, 4 disabled)

xAP Van Overstraten sank with some of the troops from the Bobcats
Not a terrible loss, DD Porter will make it to Tulagi this turn
and begin repairs.
===============================================
KB had a lot more aircraft that the mouseover showed last turn, or
there are two different TFs. I am not sure. This turn the mouseover
showed 282 fighters and 291 bombers. My air at Tulagi did launch but
to no success, just a lot of lost aircraft and pilots

I will save you the long CR of my failure, We will just say I lost the
following aircraft 32 F4F-4, 29 TBF-1, 24 SBD-3, 7 F4F-3, 4 P-38E
And I record that Japan lost about 2 Jake, 2 A6M3a, 2 A6M2, and 1 Val.

Not a very good showing, but my guys were vastly outnumbered. Note that
none of the Fighters lost were USN, all USA and USMC.
The weather in the morning was moderate rain and the afternoon was Heavy Cloud.

I am going to move my DS to a place where it should be out of range
for the turn but close enough to move in if he makes strikes at one of my heavily
defended Bases
I am very leery of getting DS too close to KB, DS is showing a 10/11 detection level,
not good.
