Even after a heavy naval bombardment my air units were able
to put up some CAP.
I shot down 5 A6M3a Zeros and lost 3 Hurricane IIbs in air-2-air
I lost 15 aircraft on the ground, mostly Hurricanes and P-40Ks.
The bad loss was 2 Beaufort VIII. Not that bad, the base facilities
are well damaged, but I have enough engineers to repair fairly quickly.

Apparently several members have taken exception to the censorship imposed by a moderator, locking the Points to Ponder thread because of a few art depictions of females. I also think they went too far, but am not so ready to leave the forum.

Thats to bad, the people that work on this game, play it and lend their time and expertise that add to the enjoyment of it for the rest of us are the community. I hope the hall monitors don’t run too many more of that community off, it would be a shame.

Please reconsider.

Matrix, be careful. You're not the only game in town. We have a pretty serious vote in how well you do.

I am going to reopen this AAR. But first a few words on why I closed it.

I am a hot headed person. I will sometimes post things I should not and I would
probably gotten myself permantly banned if I did not walk away. If you look you
can find posts by me that have been edited to a single word or two. Very likely I
had typed something that was derogatory or harsh and I caught myself before it
had been up long and was able to change it.

I had a very angry post ready to post when I realized that it was going to be a bad thing.
I understood that I needed to take a few days away and see if my anger stayed high or receded some.

To be completly honest, I do not really consider what Matris/Slitherine to be censorship.
I view it as they have rules and are now going to enforce them.
While I mostly like the pictures that were posted, they are not the reason I am here, so
it is really not a concern of mine.

My main complaint was/is the way in which they went about it. It seemed very abritary
and a bit harsh. They said that they informed everyone about the rules and their enforcement
but I never saw any annoucement. To be honest again, I enter the forums through
a direct link to the WitP:AE sub fourm. It is a rarity for me to go to the main forum page
or any other of the sub forum pages, so if there was an annoucement somewhere else
than this sub forum, I would most likey not have seen it.

I do think that an email to all members telling everyone that they were going to start
enforcing this set of rules would have been a good thing. I am sure they have the ability
to send an email to all members. I feel that a lot of people on this forum were taken
by surprise, as I was.

I will do some updates tomorrow morning.

I have been bombing a number of targets

Manus, Kavieng, and Rabaul in the Pacific.

I have used night to bomb bases in Burma. I have switched to day
raids since my recon shows no aircraft at these bases. He might
try LRCAP but I am also sending in both escorts and sweepers,
B-25Cs are sturdy aircraft and are hard to bring down.
===========================================================
I am not planning on continuing ground operations in Burma. I can not get
supply to my units, I do not have that many Transport units there yet.

In the Pacific I am waiting for March 1943 when I can convert about 25
APs to APAs. That is when the fun starts. I have 7 CVEs in a CV Escort TF
with 205 fighters on board. They are enough at this time to protect against
long range Nettie bombers.

My DS is now composed of 2 Lexington CVs, 4 Yorktown CVs, and one Essex CV.
I present the newest USN CV, Fort Sumpter

Mouseovers show Magwe airfield damage at 40 and Mandalay at 86

recon shows there is a LCU in the clear hex SW of Magwe. I am going to send
about 90 B-25Cs at 3000 feet on a ground attack mission and see what happens

B-24Ds and Liberator IIs continue to hit the airfield at Magwe

Another thing about February 1943, I am now getting 48 B-24D1s instead of only 15
B-24s. And my B-25C factories have upgraded to B-25D1 attack bombers and I am getting
60 per month.

I had a good number that did not find the target
They will return tonight to see if they can hit
some on the ground.

I shot down 39 fighters over Rangoon, I have some
bombers crews that might make ace this next run.
He also had 12 ops losses in fighters last turn.

Sadly I lost 3 B-24Ds in that raid.
==============================================
B-25Cs night bombed Magwe, no aircraft on the ground so
just some supply hits. They will bomb Tongoo tonight
Recon shows some fighters there.

Both Manus and Rabaul hit by heavy bombers, no oposition
again some supply hits. All these will stand down a few
days to repair damage and airframe fatigue.
===============================
Then there always these that bring great joy

Why were the Japanese aircraft losses so extremely high? He lost so many aircraft intercepting your Liberators, it doesn't seem right.

B-24s are fairly tough to bring down, and it was at night and he does not have any night fighters available at this time.
I have a feeling that his fighter commanders have high aggression ratings and they try too hard.

Two other items that can make a difference.

I have no idea how well trained his pilots are, they may not be his best.
I train my heavy bomber crews in both ground bombing and Transport.
That also increases their defensive skill. Most of my heavy bomber pilots
have a defensive skill of 65-75, that can make a difference also.

Attention to training can pay dividends in this game.

At Toungoo, no aircraft hit and none show up after recon today
All of my B-25Cs will stand down for a couple of days, their morale

Again weather scrubbed all my heavy bomber runs. Moonlight is fading,
soon there will not be enough to find the target.

Good to see you back Nomad!

I see a possible Civil War CV naming concept for your new Essex's developing here. If I ever do a variants game you will see the same with me. In my practice variants game, I have USS Shiloh, USS Stones River and USS Missionary Ridge on the building ways. Fort Sumter also sounds like a good name. I live right on the edge of the Battle of Nashville and just North of the Battle of Franklin. Hood's Army of Tennessee advanced and retreated on Franklin Pike only a half mile from my house. I live on a 500 foot ridge overlooking the area so I am pretty sure cavalry from both sides were up in our sub-division(long before any houses were up there) at some point looking for a better view.

Hi Mark, I have others coming. Missionary Ridge is one, Appomattox is another. I am not sure off the top of my head how many others.
