Turn 2 End of Turn (NOT a real turn update)

Center

Clear out all pockets from 1st turn. Have interlocking ZOC's on front line already for any attempt to infiltrate my lines. Surround 2 airborne brigades and an Inf Division. I line up on the Dnepr for a possible push towards Gomel.

FBD is circled in orange.

****Remember there is motorization in the game and see opening remarks about motorization use. I have used it sparingly so far but will be a factor shortly.

*****Also note that I am only playing with 4 Assault HQ's

All pockets cleared and infantry moving to front. Capture a few more units that routed south in another pocket.

South

Again, get rid of all pockets and move forward.

FBD circled in orange under the HQ. The other FBD I showed in last post but can be seen in this snapshot too. I am converting both dual tracks in the south and will be linking them with the RAD battlions/regiments.

I am using the Rumanian FBD a bit different this game :) Linking up those Level 2 railyards and getting multiple single track lines connected to the dual track line this game in the South. I will also be using 6 of my RAD battalions in the South alone this game to convert rail track

Turn 3 Real Turn Update

I have one export port this game and worked absolutely beautiful this turn. Koenigsberg shipped out 28,000 freight to 3 ports further to the North with Riga getting little less than half. At this point I am going to leave Koenigsberg as it is as an export port and have one other port in the picture to stock up supply so when Koenigsberg gets low I will switch out the roles of the ports. Further North I will only make one port for import for supply to be directed towards it. It has been a learning experience but I am very happy on the results on this turns shipping supply that I can't wait to see what is moved next turn.

All other ports will be set to zero as the other ports further to the west are already set to zero. So in my Jubjub game the frieght was bouncing around between ports it seemed when set to all export.

I am sure this unit can pretty much "hasty" attack and force a retreat on almost any hex attacked. Notice the SU's ;-) (Although "DAS Reich" is my Favorite Division this one will work just the same as my 2nd favorite)

Turn 3

I don't know if people are aware but there is a trick (would be an exploit by definition by some) you can do with multi-role units and HQ's. I am sure it will surface soon enough, but I better write it up so people will know it when they see it.

Not so much the Axis side since so few multi-role units.

Do you mean 'covert' multirole unit and teleport it away by reassigning it or something like that?

I used my normal opening in the South, a bit more refined than normal in this AAR, and you got a mild opening in the South.

I feel the Germans are "very" strong and need to be played differently than what was in WITE1. I started that transition in our game Jubjub transitioning to my new "Ad Hoc Musings" trying them out. I am further refining those musings here along with my supply. I feel in another game or two the Soviets will be very hard pressed to stop me as a German player. But that is just how I feel at the moment & once the Air war is addressed I feel I can do just as well there.

Another item that is key on maximizing losses is using Deliberate attacks to kill as many as possible in pockets. Too many times have I seen people hasty attack to maximize the amount of attacks by a unit. This cuts down on the amount of losses you get overall and when added up can be a very big number if you use it over all the fronts. Plus if you fail a hasty your losses are higher :( Thus, I use deliberate attacks to maximize the surrender losses thus getting them all or maybe within a couple hundred of all the personnel in the attack. Plus where do those that survive that battle go to once surrendered in a pocket? I bet they become partisans and thus my reason for deliberate attacking forcing almost all to become POWs. Until someone tells me those that got away just vanish and go no where I will continue with this to rack up the numbers.

I used it in this AAR too vs Bobo https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4988004&mpage=2&key= post #44. Again, this one is more refined than the Bobo game. Both of my BETA AAR's, if you access to the BETA forums, have the same type of opening. I like to experiment with openings, different strats, and my musings. This game is following the Bobo game to a certain degree if you read that AAr with a few twists. I will be up front for people and my opponent that I won't be rushing across the map but will have a steady pace. Unless of course there is something to gain from rushing of course :)

No, that one is already known. You can use that to get units into Leningrad if Leningrad is cut off. This one is a little more sinister than that one. At least I think it is if it is still in the game since the last I checked it about 6 months ago. I am sure it is since I have seen no one talk about it. Again, not so much German side but Soviets could use the heck out of it. I am sure someone knows. If I get some time tomorrow I will set it up in a test game to show.

the survivors do one of two things. If the unit goes straight to rebuild they mostly follow it, so a Soviet rifle division will start with a few elements from its earlier incarnation. If the unit is destroyed they go into the transit pools

Thank you Loki.

The manual says, ""all" ground elements are captured if the unit was isolated". But that isn't the case. So in essence those men that don't surrender from a pocket (isolated if you will) form the cadre of the new Soviet Divisions. So every reason to deliberate attack those formation still while isolated. Even more reason then them going to partisans IMHO.

So one last question, "is the manual correct? Since all ground elements are to be captured but doesn't seem to be the case.
