Redjohn is playing a good game. Cutting off the German advance, punishing the PZs and pressuring the Germans well. What his opponent will do or wont do is setting the stage of Redjohn fine movements :-)

I believe AAR like this one are needed because they will bring changes helpful to the good health of the game.
I myself for now I've 100% Victory rate with Soviets (1 game bagged, 1 ongoing), and pratically 90% defeat rate with Germans in previous patches. MP games, that's it.
And I try to play 'historical' or at least fighting in general otherwise I feel I am cheating the system.

So I am looking forward to see how the Soviets operate and outdo the German here as well.

I forgot to mention, I ended the turn. Forgot to take oob also!

Anyway turn 9 starting. Movement at centre to isolate some units, and the cavalry is re-encircled.

And just to be clear, almost your entire army is at full MPs and green supply with everything set on priority 4, correct?

OOB has stagnated recently owing to vigorous German grinding. Their AFVs have dipped below 3000 though, and are trending ever downwards.

I end the turn.

Yessir. It's cost me 293 trucks, if trucks lost = total freight losses (or 129 trucks if trucks lost = trucks lost in freight and that's the overall number)

Some units aren't too hot on supply, but the vast majority are.

Turn 10! Our cavalry are in a very sticky situation, and I'm not sure if I can save them. But I will damn well try!

Centre pocket can and will be broken easily, so there's no worry there. More grinding at Leningrad too.

Sadly they hold. Many AFVs lost for NOTHING!

RIP to our cavalry. They did good.

We deployed our first sizeable infantry commitment (besides the 10 for rostov) to Stalino this turn. Roughly 100,000 men.

End of turn. OOB Remains stagnant owing to recent losses.

I also pull from our TBs - apparently they'd somehow gotten pretty beefy in terms of %. I drained all of Transcaucasus's mountaineers, all of the Japanese border's tanks/mech (only 3 units), it's 2 mountaineers, and all of the mountain cavalry/cavalry I could get my hands on whilst still keeping ground requirement at 100.

Turn 11. Centre pocket is reformed once again, and Kharkov is surrounded. I shall try to break out both!

Unfortunately both held, 1.4:1 odds on the Kharkov and a hold at range from Rokossovosky that still cost 105 AFVs. Sad setbacks.

My opponent has also wisened up and started attaching multi-role units to panzers, as well as being strict about having motorised regiments on them also. I'd have broken central if not for the retreating unit buffing the holding hexes CV - alas.

What we failed in AFV trades we make up for in infantry hits. Many a german regiment, and some divisions, have been forced to retreat. Very good whenever this happens.

OOB.

Turn ended! Very sad turn, but that's life as Soviets in the 41. Despite the many hilarious advantages, ultimately your TOEs still suck and trading is never even.

Still, he's made barely any progress in Centre and Leningrad. I have reserves coming over the next few turns, such as an additional 20 rifle divisions, (of mostly 50% TOE trash, but hey) and 8 fresh mountain divisions.

Bug? Somehow the T-34 and Il-2 factories evacuated out of Kharkov even though surrounded. That will hurt in the long run. Impossible magic evacuation.

In the manual this will happen. No bug at all. Last bullet of rule 30.2.1. Does not matter if surrounded or not. The evacuation will take place.

I manually evacuated the factories a turn prior. They didn't disappear during the turn, so I assume they moved during my end turn.

Despite tens of soviet games at this point it's quite literally my first ever time trying it out, as per whoever suggested I do it for Kharkov earlier in the AAR.

It was me :P. What is the damage for this factories?

Also what is the TOE for your tank/mech divisions? You are using them very actively and I can not imagine that you can get enough AFV replacements to them, even with Soviet production.

Oh. I thought I saw them there as I surrounded Kharkov. Perhaps I'm thinking of the prior turn.

I've shifted to using my AFVs defensively, in centre, which has had good results. But yeah my AFVs are very beat up.

Less than 600 AFVs in Rokossovoskys army.
