Hello

In a major battle, I happenned to empty one of the enemy flanks with my last attack in the turn. There had been a few routed units before.
The enemy units recovered from their routed status first, then the poursuit took place.

Is it intended, or is it an oversight ? For some reason, it seems weird to me that the enemy routed units should recover in that case, as if a new turn had begun : "one last push and their line will break".

(Edited) : I recovered a saved game and finished the same battle, and I could not see the same occurrence again. Maybe I did not pay attention and saw the enemy units after the poursuit, when they recovered from the routed status, rather than beofre the poursuit. Sorry for the false alarm.

On another topic : in medium / hard settings, maybe the probability that an enemy country with an occupied capital should depend on :
1- The relative strengths of the French / Enemy units in the country
2- How many powers are at war against France.
A simple way to do it would be to delay the first roll for surrender by a turn for every major power at war with France in addition to Great Britain and the power that might surrender. So, for instance, if Russia and Prussia (probably without French troops in Berlin, Moscow and St Petersburg, or even without French troops inside Prussia / Russia) are both at war against France as well as Austria and Great Britain and France occupies Vienna, during the first two turns after the French seize Vienna, the Austrians won't surrender.

Still another topic : some posts stated that it would be nice to be able to play with the British. I understand that coding an artificial intelligence for France would be quite an overhaul. On the other hand, how about a hotseat game for two players?

Best regards

It's possible to improve or at least change the surrender mechanism, but I am OK with it as it is. It's simple, even simplistic, but it makes for uncertainty in gameplay. That's my take anyway. I'll let Glenn chime in here if he has any thoughts to share.

I am afraid that this will probably have to wait for a "V & G: Napoleon II" at some point. I am swamped this year finishing up the sequel to my game "Hannibal."
