I'm rather fond of the Soviet Paratroopers as an early war infantry. Their SVT rifles are much better than the Mosins, and the grunts actually rally most of the time, unlike most other early-war Soviet units...

I also have a fondness for cavalry. It always makes me chuckle when I charge them into the enemy's routed and suppressed units.

They're not too bad at scouting, either.
