For the last 3 days I've been trying to engange an enemy convoy without luck. Yesterday we missed by 1 hex and ended up periliously close to enemy cv's - without being spotted. I still went after the convoy, but in my mind I imagined how Andy would order his cv's to follow the convoy to provide CAP as the ships moved closer to Singapore! I was right I will upload 3 screenies, starting with the failed interepcts leading up to today surface battle with enemy carriers and escorts/transports. While Andy didn't loose any carriers, we hit 3 - something I've never managed to do with surface ships before. Yet alone with Jap ships in late 44 The cv Bennett ate a shell with the cvl Monterey while the Cowpens and the 2 escorting light cruisers all took a long lance. 1 enemy destroyer, and 3 destroyers escorts were also heavily damaged/sunk. The cost was 2 destroyers sunk and 2 damaged. Time will show if they can be saved. The Combined Fleet still rules!!! Banzaaai Singapore has been reinforced, 500 engineers have completed all repairs and there are 400 operational fighters and 180 bombers there. If Andy pushes on with his rattled convoy it will come under heavy air attack. I will also reorganize my surface ships, but I doubt Andy will let such a disaster happen again. Kuala Lumpur fell today, as expected Malaya can't be held - BUT we're inflicting more damage than ever before and our own losses are limited. As promised: All Allied fanboys should go and listen to old Churchill speeches AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 10/04/44 Surface Combat Night Time Surface Combat at 24,53 Japanese Ships CA Aoba, Shell hits 4 CA Kinugasa, Shell hits 1 DD Makigumo, Shell hits 2, and is sunk *magazine explodes* DD Naganami, Shell hits 1 DD Natsugumo, Shell hits 2, on fire DD Nenohi, Shell hits 8, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage DD Shinonome, Shell hits 10, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage DD Yayoi, Shell hits 4, on fire, heavy damage DD Uzuki Allied Ships CV Hancock CV Bennington, Shell hits 1 CV Yorktown CVL Cowpens, Torpedo hits 1 CVL Monterey, Shell hits 1, on fire CLAA San Diego, Shell hits 1 CL Montpelier, Shell hits 5, Torpedo hits 1, on fire CL Santa Fe, Shell hits 1, Torpedo hits 1, on fire DD Abbot DD Bullard, Shell hits 2, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage DD Callaghan DD Caperton DD Chevalier DD Cogswell, Shell hits 1 DD Cony DD Spence -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The carrier TF retreated and our second TF got to the transports.
