A few enemy transports are left in the Sea of Japan with 1 APD having sailed into Vladivostok.
What can 1 APD bring there - supplies?? Can't sea the value of this...just nutters altogether.

Still can't get any of my ac to fly recon or strike mission against Soviet troops. Starting to fear
a bug...Soviet planes fly, that's for sure!

Some Soviet units are simple rifle divisions and not corps. Are they all supposed to upgrade?
If so, it could be foolish to use them prior to conversion?

I'm considering to gather 250 Shindens in one base instead of dispersing them.
So give me some good advice now, where should I put them?

Okinawas?
Home Island base?

Not every Soviet rifle divisions does upgrade, the intention of the upgrade is to give the Soviets the rifle corps (and mechanized and tank corps) that were historically available for the 'Autumn Storm' campaign in 1945. All upgrades should have happened in June 1945.

Then I guess the Red Army should be at full strength!

Again, no recon or ground strike throughout Manchukuo against Red forces.
Seems like a bug to me. If this is the case the entire defensives bottom falls out.
By refusing me the only effective counter-measures there isn't much left for me to do.

Today I tried sweeps over Okha from Shikka as well as bombing and recon units.
Didn't work either. No recon or air strikes on any other Soviet bases either despite clear weather.

I can send a turn to anyone who would like to make tests.
If I can't use my AF against the Red Army, Manchukuo is lost for sure.

Well, at least we managed to secure Okha-Sakalin today and add 400 oil and 300 resources to the Empire

Well I'd say that that makes up for a lot of their failures. When Ohkas do hit they are devastating. I imagine that that Essex class CV is in serious trouble.

Great news!!! But, I must warn that when got my Okhas to hit they were known to produce 1 sys or 1 fire damage and that's it. Someone should ask Andy what was the exact damage done to Lex2.

No, 2 ohka equal 5 long lance and 12 1000lb bomb, this should be enough. If not, it would be very disgusting... I would consider stop that airplane all together.

Did you check for OP losses to see if Andy lost some Hellcats or Corsairs? Might be indicative of the success of your strike.

No serious OPs losses this turn! Guess we'll find out tomorrow.
If the ship is seriously damaged it will still be in range of our bombers! Only partially clouded weather reported for tomorrow and I
moved bombers to Pagan.

Still not sure what damage they can cause - have launched some 200 Ohkas without scoring a single hit.
This includes misses against crippled battleships sailing alone

So I still think Ohka's should have a higher hit % and not be dependend on motherplane exp.
All they have to do is survive long enough to launch the rocket and all Ohka pilots are pre-trained and should be fairly able to hit
their target. At least a 20-25% hit probability.

Got one 1 Ohka pilot left now.

What I've learned to do is to break up my Ohka carrying Bettys. Now I got several smaller units with high exp.
I mix them with ordinary Betty's and send them in.

Yeah, about as "constructive" as every time somebody's whined about so-called "broken Okhas".

I would think that the Okha would have been quite difficult to steer, what with its high speed and relatively limited control surfaces. Sort of like the Kaiten; it's no good having a big fist if you can't land a punch.

The best we can do is calculate average hit probability for those who were launched and scored hits.
Numbers launched divided on number of hits.

Operational history

March 21, 1945 — Sixteen Ohka-carrying Betty G4M2e mother ships were to be escorted by 55 Zeros to attack Task Group 58.1 (Hornet, Bennington, Wasp, Belleau Wood). Another two Bettys were to escort and provide navigation and observation. Due to technical problems, all but 30 zeros have to turn back or cannot take off. The Ohka attack force is intercepted by 50 F6F Hellcats and the Ohkas are immediately jettisoned by the Bettys some 70 miles (113 km) from the target. None of the Bettys return, no ships are attacked, 16 of the Jinrai Butai are dead, and only 15 damaged Zeros make it back.

April 1 1945 — Six Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. At least one makes a successful attack, with its Ohka hitting one of the 16" (406 mm) turrets on the West Virginia, causing moderate damage. Alpine, Achernar, and Tyrrell are also hit by kamikaze aircraft, but it is unclear whether any of these were Ohkas from the other Bettys. None of the Bettys return.

April 12 1945 — Nine Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. Mannert L. Abele is hit, breaks in two, and sinks. Jeffers destroys an Ohka with AA fire 50 yards (45 m) from the ship, but the resulting explosion is still powerful enough to cause extensive damage, forcing Jeffers to withdraw. Stanly is targeted by two Ohkas. One strikes just above the waterline, with the charge punching through the other side of the hull before detonating, causing little damage to the ship, and the other Ohka narrowly missed and crashed into the sea, knocking off the Stanly's ensign in the process. One Betty returns.

April 14 1945 — Seven Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. None return. None of the Ohkas appear to have been launched.

April 16 1945 — Six Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. Two return, but no Ohkas hit their targets.

April 28 1945 — Four Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa at night. One returns. No hits.

May 4 1945 — Seven Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. One Ohka hits the bridge of Shea, causing extensive damage and casualties. Vessel judged beyond repair. Gayety is also damaged by a near-miss by an Ohka. One Betty returns.

May 11 1945 — Four Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. Hugh W. Hadley is hit, suffers extensive damage and flooding. Vessel judged beyond repair.

May 25 1945 — Eleven Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. Bad weather forces most of the aircraft to turn back, and none of the others score hits.

June 22 1945 — Six Bettys attack the US Fleet off Okinawa. Two return, but no hits were scored.
---------------------------------------------------------------

The real life hit ratio is way better than what I've managed so far!

Still no luck with ground attacks. Switching to airfield attacks altogether.
Should be easier...if possible at all.

Slowly building the pool of Reppus and Shindens that is needed to last throughout the war.
If we can build 2000 of each over the next 4 months we will have enough to last.

From my experience, ground attack missions will not fly if they are conducted from the same base as AF attack missions AND over the same target.

Most of the time I don't read CRs in detail so I'm not sure if this is the problem here, but it might be worth looking at.

I have only ordered only ground/AF strikes from our bases - so this should not be a problem either...
No air strikes today either. Just a new 'issue' as Russian troops apparently 'pass through'Arshaan.

Told Andy that I cannot continue to fight in Manchukuo with the current issues.
If he does not halt his offensive I may have to withdraw all troops into China in order to prevent their
destruction.

WitP is giving me a lot of functional problems right now and I must admit that the cost of playing an
old stock game are getting a bit high. Personally I would like to see all combat in Manchukuo halted for now.

A mech corps landing in paras?

Andy tells me that he ordered the Mech corps to march from Arshaan to another base:
"I was pulling some armour/mech while leaving forces to cover it out of Arshaan and was going to leave you sitting on top of your mountain with your x 12 defensive multiplier I ordered the troops to move to a base on another axis of advance intending it to move North then East along the road.

BUT

the shortest route between two bases is SOUTH so the AI sent them through your forces along the rail line its an issue of road v rail unfortunately.

So I can fix it in a couple of turns by ordering the forces back North and I will move forces 1 unit at a time.
"
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This sounds a bit weirdo to me, but the ground combat system isn't always 100% perfect

Further Andy informs that he will march the Mech corps back around Arshaan and that his only real objective is Harbin and that he's assembling all his troops for an all out assault here.
After it falls he'll be happy enough to close down the entire Manchukuo theatre.

I'm wondering if I should accept this. I can muster many troops for an all out stand at Arshaan - but it's no real point
if my air force doesn't want to fly. If I could interdict enemy troops with all my available LBA it could maybe be possible to
halt the Reds.

Harbin with its 200 Shindens produced pr month is a valuable target, but we produce more than 600 pr month and the pool is growing.

Ahh, this is getting frustrating

I really get the feeling that the game is just coded against Japanese in the programe, too frequent to described as "random factor" only....

We all talk about history accuracy, but I wonder if there is a more balanced grand scenario, then those so-called "history accurate" scenario would be played anymore. If there is an option, to say, "turn off japanese asw incompetence", and you, as allies player, don't want to accept it? Well, go and find some others who enjoy to be whipped! There are tons of willing allies players, but few want to take japanese side, and even fewer who is qualified to do so. If you don't believe this, simply read those posts in the opponent want forum.
