Has anyone upgrade a game in progress?

I am playing the Allies in the grand campaign vs. AI, and I am 8 months into the war. I was planning on not upgrading until the war ended. I have V1.0. Would upgrading in the middle of my game cause any problems?

I have been upgrading my games as the patches come out. Fixes a lot, leaves OOB stuff untouched, hasn't seemed to hurt anything yet.

You just don't benefit from the OOB changes and such until you do a restart.
