Never, NEVER, NEVER, try to load multiple LCUs in one TF. The programming for loading troops on ships is very poor in this game. Mr.Frag once said that a lot of the troop loading problems are caused by parts of the code that were intended to prevent units from "disappearing" from the database. As a programmer, that just raises all kinds of hackles and WTF's.

At any rate, the only way to end up with multiple LCUs loaded on one TF is to load each LCU on a separate TF and then, once they are all completely loaded, combine the TFs into one. Otherwise you get sh*t like what happened to you, Zeta.

Wow, after reading how you must load 1 LCU per TF, I just had a thought.

Imagine its February of 1946. The IJN is destroyed. As the Allies, you are sending every Division, every man with a rifle or a Thompson to invade Japan. Operation Olympic has begun.

Can you imagine that? With the way the loading routine works, that would be a freaking Logisitics nightmare. 10 divisions, 15 base forces, 5 tank battalions, 3 SeaBees, 6 FA Regiments, 5 Air Base forces, 3 HQs.... Not to mention brining in more divisions to land at different points, and any LBA to station at the new airfields. Just for the main force, that is 47 different TFs. Very scary.

As it would have been in reality!

Imagine the organisation that would have had to be performed. Mind boggling. D-Day would have looked like organising a trip to the supermarket.

I believe I am about to rapidly improve my industrial situation with the additional of a lot of oil and resources:

Currently I have around 1500 oil. Soon I will be adding Rangoon (50), Mandalay (50), Medan (50), Bankha (50), Palemberg (700), and Chungking (75) to the mix. This totals out to nearly 1000 oil points for an increase of 66% over current oil production.

I don't have a list of resources handly but it probably totals over 2000 points. This is a lot of free supply to go along with the resources. It appears Japan's long recession is about to end and their economy should be in boom phase in the next fiscal year.

Let's hope Palembang takes a hit when he takes it. When I have taken it I have never gotten over 200 oil, and most of the time I get under 100. He will be able to move oil at will becasue my subs have hit maybe 5 ships the whole game. The only advantage I think I have is in the quality of my pilots. He has lost a lot of them.

I just sunk an Allied AK east of Mogami Harbor. Don't know if this is an invasion or what. Haven't seen any other ships though. Could be just a probe of the air defenses.

Yep, I had to go with phase two before phase one. I was going to use a two prong attack with Midway being first and Christmas second. So the troops who were to go to Christmas had to wait on the transports to come back from Midway.

Japan loses a CV a CVE and probably a CVL in exchange for a torpedo hit on an American CVE. The tide has turned. KB won't be hunting down many more Allied supply convoys -- it's down to LBA for Japan now and his pilots are not very good anymore -- almost every plane was shot down in the attack that put one torpedo into the Suwannee. It seems likely that Mogami Harbor will be isolated, bombed and then successfully invaded this year. That would pretty much guarantee that the Japanese won't be able to win on points in 1943.

I do wonder if Zeta has made good use of the past year in India to fortify everything. After igoring China in the early days, the price might be high in 1943. Still, he's in better shape than Wobbly in that other AAR. I also wonder how effective the bomber offensive is -- seems to be turning East Asia into turf, but what is the real effect of that on Japanese supply/forces in the Burma-India-China theatre?

Will Zeta be able to push down the Aleutians and get to the northern islands to start pounding Japan with a bomber offensive from the north? Are the bases up there suitable for that sort of campaign?

There is still a long Pacific campaign for the Allies to fight. The loss of the carriers was an accident because they were actually just looking for convoy to sink rather than seeking an invasion fleet. It doesn't appear the Aleutians is a viable option due to the lack of good ports.

Plus the AI suck becasue of the weather for half of the year. Ports do not matter to me, the important thing to me is Airfield size. I have done work on India, but it is very hard to stop close to a million men where ever they go. Air power does not do much against land armies.

Most of the Aleutians can't build their airfields large enough to properly support B-29s. And nothing smaller than that is going to be able to reach Japanese industry from there.

Yep the Indiana was not going to make it back to SF. So the only choice I had was to send her towards Christmas Island so may be I could disband her on the next turn. It did not payoff. The only other ship really hurting is the SF the rest have some mid teens damage and will be fine. Now Island hoping will begin and now I can get some of the hundreds of planes on the West coast into the fight. My Burma army has been rebulit in India and the longer we waits to move through the Jungle the harder it will be for him. I know he is going to take Singapore, the goal is to make him take a fair amount of time. On Saturday I will post some screen shots of the score and planes and such. The long road towards Japan has begun.
