I am a pro American Canadian, I have no use for typical European leftist ideas. But I sure wish that it would have been Rudy Giuliani as President.

I would advise stop using Ketchup, as a dollar from each bottle end up in Kerry's campaign! :)

We are waiting for the patch and confining "this" to this thread.....so totally appropriate.

Is it too early to ask for the 1.4 patch?

Funny story. A Local Steakhouse, operated by a die hard conservative like myself, actually stopped serviving Heinz Ketchup. He now uses Hunt's, saying that he in no way wants to help Kerry get elected. Not as drastic as you would think.

I agree to not go way into politics, but when you think about it, by Thursday, or for sure by Tuesday, we'll all shut up and go back to storming islands or blasting each others flattops out of the sea, so what is the harm.

Boy have you been brainwashed by Bush's spin doctors....... Ever been taught to use your own brain? I've never seen such a poor piece of propaganda.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
In the war on terror, Bush has won a fairly swift victory. Never again will another 9/11 be possible.

Just imagine what will happen after US troups are withdrawn from Iraq. Don't you think a part of the troubles made there might travel elsewhere too? Do you think the US has made big friends in the Islam world with this mess mainly inflicted by having NO decent plan for the time after the military victory? Maybe there won't be planes hitting skyscrapers anymore, but can't you imagine other attack methods? In Israel you see that NOTHING can stop a guy or a woman who doesn't care for life on this planet anymore. And in Iraq life has been made miserable for a lot of folks during the last year.....

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
Military spending has ensured our military will be ready for anything.

Yeah, we see how stable the situation in Iraq is. Brilliant remark.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
Thanks to Bush, a nuclear missile defense system will now further protect America from terrorist attack, or attacks by other nations.

Buddy, terrorists don't ever attack with ballistic missiles...... If there's a terrorist attack with a nuclear device it's gonna be a bomb placed in a car or a piece of baggage.....

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
Under his fellow democrats, there is a movement to have the UN run the US presidential elections, NOT the United States Government.

Looking back to the mess for example in Florida in the last election (still being run by a governor named Bush....) and the same mess on the horizon for this election I can understand the wish for outside assistence..... I never imagined to see third world voting standards in a nation which claims to be the mother of all democracies..... Who on earth came up with the idea of electronic voting devices leaving no paper trail for an election of this importance?????????????????

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
You are against the war in Iraq. I respect that. However, it wasn't until April 2004 that John Kerry finally took a firm stance AGAINST the Iraq war, following his indecisiveness and his support for the war. At least Bush made a decision and stuck with it.

Kerry WAS in Vietnam, putting his life on the line when others have dodged combat service, and what started to happen in Iraq turns out to have more and more parallels with what happened in Southeast Asia. Bad decisions shouldn't necessarily be followed if they clearly lead to an abyss. I'm amazed at the Lemming mentality of most Bush followers.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
According to Matt Hayes at Fox News, .........

Quoting Fox News is a joke. There's no other news organisation with a comparable size of audience with such a terrible bias in politics. The highest ethical priority for Journalism is solid and balanced information of the public. A necessary prerequisite for a functionning democracy. Fox definatly is no source for neutral and solid informations but an ultraconservative propaganda machine......

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace
My main reason for NOT voting for Kerry: During the last debate, as he had no real domestic plan, he resorted to foreign policy and personal attacks ......

Question: Does the Bush team und B himself refrain from personal attacks? Does Bush offer more in the direction of a real domestic plan?

In short: If you want to do Mr. Bush and the audience of this forum a favour then shut up about politics..... I intended to restrain myself too, but Tankerace's piece of propaganda cried out to be confronted. I'm perfectly willing to enter a constructive discussion, but somewhere else, not in a wargame forum, ok?

Yep. Made a mistake in another thread by spontaneously initializing an escalation like in this one. Don't know anymore who told so, but it's correct that politics in general and especially political issues dealing with this presidential election tend to become emotional, verbal stones being thrown, eyes lost in the process, and the like. Very true. Also there is a very heterogenous audience in this forum (age, education, language skills), so in-depth-discussions of most topics other than WitP tend to have undesirable results and bear no fruits anyway.

Therefore I second the motion to stick to wargame issues in this forum.

Until recently, I used to think that a wargaming community provided an incredibly valuable source of insight into the military aspects of the current political debate in this country, but I've seen in several forums that wargamers are just as prone to mis-information, wishful thinking, and blind idealogical bias as the general populace.

Yea, wiser heads are right... leave the politics out of wargaming forums!

(Or at least until it's all in the past and we can dissect what went wrong and debate alternative strategies that might have changed history).

I am just SO GLAD that it's almost over... I'm a political junkie but I'm just so sick of the charges and countercharges and lies and misrepresentations and maneuvering and registration fraud and vote suppression efforts and fears about rigged electronic voting and....

God, let it just end on election day!

And with malice towards none and charity for all, let us bind up the nation's wounds...

Yep. And then on to international wounds and to global problems screaming to be addressed openminded, multilaterally and with civilized means. But not in this forum anymore please.

Your zenophobia and right-wing manifesto have NO place in this forum, in support of your crusader or not. Refrain from espousing your brand of Fox News inspired history, for the good of us all? This is a forum for War In The Pacific, if you need an outlet for your anger/hate/ignorance, a google search for O'Reilly/Coulter/Limbaugh will lead you to the promised land. Thank you,

Rick

Matrix,
Please get the patch out! I am in a so called "battleground state" and I get enough of this from the radio and TV. I don't need it from a gaming forum! So, please get the patch out so my fellow gamers will be too busy playing to talk politics!

Your CNN Pink slip is showing... And if you are going to call one source biased, recognize that your own sources are even more biased and have been for about four decades, please. The Media are 80% liberal in voter registration as it is according to the latest data. Don't make the typical leftist remark about someone being biased just because they don't buy the leftist propaganda machine's pompous pandering.

Oh, by the way, your remark about anger/hate/ignorance is really insulting to those of us who actually have functioning brain cells and happen to think that the democrat party has slipped so far away from the main stream of politics in the US that it has to resort to such trash as that kind of remark. That is sort of like Hillary's blaming the truth about Bill's tryst in the White House on a "vast right-wing conspiracy." I wish the dems would argue issues rather than chivy votes with manufactured headlines and/or personal attacks - like calling a conservative .xenophobic!

well...this may sound harsh, but if people do not want to read this, do not click on this link....with that said, i don't like it either. but this appears to be allowed so i will bite. it is funny to me how Kerry supporters will throw out personal insults when someone does not support their point of view. case in point, Tankerace's post was, in my opinion, a well though out and presented arguement. someone might dispute the facts, but as Homer Simpson said, "you can use facts to prove anything even remotely true" then in forranger's reponse, he acually has 4 insults in his first sentence:
"Boy have you been brainwashed by Bush's spin doctors....... Ever been taught to use your own brain? I've never seen such a poor piece of propaganda."
then alot of the remainder of his arguement is the same, and some even inaccurate. and some just does not even attempt to make a point:
"Yeah, we see how stable the situation in Iraq is. Brilliant remark."

quote:

ORIGINAL: Tankerace

Buddy, terrorists don't ever attack with ballistic missiles...... If there's a terrorist attack with a nuclear device it's gonna be a bomb placed in a car or a piece of baggage.....

I've got some news for you, the terrorists are not going to build their own bomb, they are going to buy/steal it. They could just as easily get a ballistic missle has any other type. the was even stated by Kerry in the debate, and it will prob be easier since they do not have to get one in the U.S. border. also, many people consider N. Korea a terrorist state

here is somemore:
"I'm amazed at the Lemming mentality of most Bush followers"
"There's no other news organisation with a comparable size of audience with such a terrible bias in politics"

eerrr, CNN, CBS? MSNBC is not too bad, Fox has does conservative shows (which i do not really like) but the news itself is not too bad...i watch all of them and figure that the true is somewhere in between.

I do support Bush, and this is why, I don't give a crap about Kerry's Vietnam record, i really don't care about what he said about the war, The thing that influenced me was his senate record over the last 20 so years. what has he supported, what has he not supported. i find that i do not agree with many of his views.

TO EVERYONE; do not take other's word for fact. look for yourself. BOTH sides only show the "facts" that support them. anyone can go to Boortz or moveon, but do you really think your going to get an unbias'd point of view?

but isn't politics humorous? my father always said that used car salesmen were politicans who didn't make it because they were too honest. (for any used car salesmen who were offended, i'm sorry. I acually have a good friend that paid his way through collage, and he is the most honest person I know)

that acually also reminds me of a funny story with him, but i'll spare you and my fingers because it would take a hour to write

It generally is until people take a side and start preaching what everyone already knows. It is safe to assume that anyone with enough of an IQ to play a game like WitP also has enough to figure out who to vote for based on some form of credible reasoning. It does not mean they are right, but at least they are informed votes. For the non-Yanks, most of us don't really care.

Yeah, yeah, and Dick Nixon "was not a crook"!!

Which brings up the question, will the new patch make it easier for us to bomb Cambodia? Please discuss!! (OK, I admit it. Without the patch, I am still bored. But at least I have kept some pride, and not managed to start a new "I'd like to discuss ASW code" thread. )
