Finally caught up with the posting
Im unloading still at PM, in darwin I order a deliberate attack
In Burma Im sending many A/c and support units now into the area, he has troops on Adaman island, so a recon is needed. The paras are in bangkok.
Rangoon is now mine, but it will be a week before all troops are in position, lots of base forces to organise
In malaya, gathering all troops at Kuala lumpar, the final drive south should go quickly
I have absolutely no idea of the location of wobbly CVs, or really even a grasp of his grand strategy. tactically he is too good for me, playing against him reminds me of playing against the Borg of Star trek fame. Every move calculated, and whan he attacks....
just read our UV AAR to see methodical AL at work

Burma, not much happening, just getting base units fwd, and A/C to challenge his LBA
rangoon was emty of fuel, the resources ect not too badly damaged
In malaya he bugs out of Kuala Lumpar, so My Air pounded Johore Bharu.
The steamroller is ordered south, I doubt little will stop it
In Borneo a sq of zeros take out a pt boat trying to attack shipping at Jolo
The GRRRR is for macassar, his LBA damages 2 APs badly, no real cap provided
The phillipines just saw some bombing, Im waiting on PPs for another division for the PHillipines

Down south, 1 division attacked 1 fort at darwin, and did not take it.
double GRRRRR, grrrr.
A BB bombardment tomorrow might solve that
North of PM 2 full divisions are unloaded, and march south towards the port. No disruption at all !!
Gilli Gilli is invaded tomorrow
Hitting rabaul by air tomorrow again, will try another attack soon

I have a nasty feeling of wobbly interference soon.....

Wobbly returns to the war.
After exchanging E mail pleasantries (we still have a UV game going), I played the turn.
With PZB hammering him, and with this turn, if he doesnt give up playing WITP he has more guts than I

I continued to unload a division at Gilli Gilli
Finished unloading North hex to Port Moresby
Subs attacked near PM, but missed
Another annoying Bomb attack from China, Hong Kong got hit
OK, so far so good
Zeros sweep Mandalaby, and chew up the AVG Nicely

Now the whole plan of this Port Moresby Tactic has been to hopefully lure the American Fleet to battle.
Wobbly being hyper aggressive, all those shiny BBs ect.......
Walrus sights KB 4 hexes south of the reefs to the east of Gilli Gilli
KB Strikes, range 5 Hexes
11 zero, 20val,21 Kate, 42 Wildcat CAP
Enterprise 2 Hits
Saratoga 2 Hits
Lexington 1 hit
48zero,89 Val, 21 kate, 30 wildcat Cap
The Cap is destroyed
CA Astoria 4 Hits
CA Achilles 2 Hits
CA Northhampton 5 hits
CA Chester 2 Hits
Ca Canberra,2 hits
2 dds hit
3 zero, 20kates hit 2 dds
3 zeros 20 kates hit canberra again

The PM Phase opens, and KB Reacts towards him, range down to 4 hexes, now for the torpedoes.
He attacks, 10 wildcats, 34 DBs, 39 zero CAP
Only 8 DBs get through, Missing Akagi and Kaga
39DBs , 39 Zeros (Pile in boys, plenty for all!)
8DBs attack, Kaga is hit, its a dud!

55 Zero, 15Val, 10Wildcat CAP
No hits
Then the coup de grace, a huge nicely coordinated strike
Saratoga goes under a hail of torpedoes and bombs
Lexington goes under her hail of bombs and torpedoes
Chicago is hit
Northhampton, Achilles, stuart sink

Darwin Falls
Gilli Gilli falls
Rabual holds STILL!!!!

Losses, 7 zero, 10 kate, 10 val
70 Wildcats, 75 DBs, 30 Devastators went down with the carriers

Lesson
The faster a CV group is moving, the greater the chance of an Uncoordinated strike.
KB was motionless, all in 1 big taskforce, by all other accounts I should have experienced uncoordinated strikes.

Orders for today.....
4 hexes due south of KB I have reports of 6, yes 6 BBs in a task force, and another of 6 CAs.
I believe this is the pearl harbour battle line, his fleet, now without aircover, alone in the coral sea (I Believe Enterprise flight deck closed)
KB Fuel is critical, and she has few escorts, but boldness is called for here.
I must risk a at sea intercept
KB is split into 3, each division heading 4 or 5 hexes south, south east, southwest.
If I run smack into the battle line Im going to lose badly, if he runs, I have a massive chance to really get the Jap fanboy wet dream victory.

This is where the war will be decided.
BANZIA!!!!!

Burma is going OK, 2 divisions and 1 regiment seem to have wobbly in retreat mode, getting some base forces in
Malaya, ordered a shock attack at Malacca, the steamroller should now really begin to roll
Taking out many of the Lillies and nates ect, putting them into reserve, the sallies in theatre are going to be redeployed to the Phillipines next
Here 3 divisions advance on Clarke, its a slow march to the place
troops are clearing the southern Phillipines, Davao will be the invasion departure point for the DEI
Every base with oil and resources are going to need massive supply to repair, no luck this department at all
I give up with Rabual, how the hell do you take the place!!!

Darwin troops are going to reload , then gather at Davao, a base force and garrison regiment are on the way
Troops for PM are very slowly moving towards the base, its going to take a lot longer than I thought, but no way can Wobbly get in a relief, not with the current Naval situation
Gilli Gilli troops begin to reload, rabual for them
troops soon to arrive at Lunga
South east Pacific is almost mine
Lots of fuel to be dumped at Lunga and Gilli Gilli (hope this works), if not rabual
Mini KB is headed to rendevou with KB, intend to shuffle CVs, leave 2 big 1cvl in the area to ensure no Wobbly counter
The whole plan was to catch Wobbly CVs, never thought it would happen, so Im not sure where to send KB next!
Probably a big strike on Noumea, hunt more shipping, then cover DEI invasion
The carnage continued today, for the loss of 1 Val, confirmed sank 3CA, 1 CL 2, maybe 3 DD
Fuel is all but out, tomorrow must retire, he scattered everywhere, no sign of the Enterprise, or any BBs, ships still all over the place.
So its January, and there are no allied CVs left to worry about for the month, what would you do?

With 3 allied CVs gone in January, but also a totally wrecked invasion of Malaya and the phillipines also, a mutual decision to restart with 1.5 ( if it comes soon) is taken.

Lesson learned
Prepare.
Prepare and plan better.
And prepare better

We look forward to another attempt soon.
