I see quite a lot of b17 shot down in air to air
also number of p 38 lost is comparable to 2nd generation of Japanese fighters
it seems that Japan is not doomed in middle part of war as strong as I supposed

Check out the title of this thread Sneer. The shame and execration is because due to gross missmanagement on the allied (mine)side, the allies lost ALL their freaking carriers except for Long Island in the early months of the war. As a result, the allied strategy had to base itself strongly on LBA. As such, for a very long time, all allied air offenssive operations required the aggressive use of the B17s, and until some P38s were available, they were operating unescorted.
Similarly, the P38s carried the brunt of the fight against the enemy fighters at Lae, Rabaul and Kendari. Despite their heavy losses, the enemy has lost the use of those airfields, which in turn have allowed for the allied offenssive against Amboina, a strategic mistake; and Madang, a success up to now.
In today's action, enemy carrier aircraft are being used in land operations. (This must be part of an enemy piolet training scheme)

Additional long distance fighters are available in Burma, so that the daily Akyab bombing should soon be a milk run no longer. Also the P40 N is now available, and South Wes Pac units have 1st priority on the new fighters. The Japanese wave will soon be pushed back to its shores!

The problem with the three pphase plan is of course that it takes forever to get all the neccessary ingredients, the "mise en place" if you will assembled. At thsi rate, the war will be over before we get around to winning it.

These guys had been ordered to attack for days During that time, there were P38s available for escort, but these guys were too busy drinking their tea to attack. Yesterday I decide that since they are not going to attack at all, I might as well use the P38s to fly long range CAP over Akyab, (with good results, I'd say), but I forget to turn these guys to other duties.
Guess what Today is the day they attack unescorted

I am still trying to rearrange the LCU so they all match up. Meanwhile, for no good reason, a fragment of a carrier fighter group decides to resurrect in MADANG, I don't really know what to do with it, so I'm trying to get it back to Frisco or elsewhere to see if it will grow if I stick it on a carrier
