Two interesting items. First, the annoying sub that was messing about the vicinity of Ceylon has been sunk by a dedicated squadron of British destroyers. Britania rules the waves
In an unrelated development, a surface combat task force is spotted transiting through the Macassar straits, from Tarakan towards Samarinda. We presume it is meant to harass the transports there, however these transports have completed their unloading and are now withdrawing as we speak.

Operations KA, the reconquest of the islands from Bali to Timor, was a partial success. However, its main objective was to set up Operation I-Go. This was the planned attack on Maccasar, but after it became apparent that the enemy was there in great strength, far greater than the 2 dvisions of infantry earmarked for the invasion, it was decided to scrap the operation and shift the forces invovled into Operation SHI. This plan was intended to harass the British shipping in the Indian Ocean and forestall an invasion of the Burma or Malaysia fronts. After sinking 4 carriers, several supporting vessels and crippling 3 battleships (we suspect that one of these was sunk, but have been unable to confirm to this date) the plan was declared a resounding success and the carriers involved, which had received crippling losses to their aircrew, were sent to refit and retrain.

The Imperial Army is now involved in an operation to wrest control of Lanchow and it's oilfields from the Communist Chinese. This operation is going well, and though losses are heavy in both men and material, it is expected that the city will hold out for another month.

The Imperial Navy is primarily strengthening the defensive perimeter and training new pilots and ships. Our surface forces have been pounding enemy beachheads in Borneo and the carriers continue to train. Once these forces are deemed ready, the Daihonei will initiate Operation Donryu.

God I hadn't realised that you had sunk 12 CVs !!! This really shows that what makes the difference for the Allies is the LBA... Once they have bases in range, they'll just roll down to the heart of the empire step by step...

It is really logical, but still frightening..

Merchant losses are not that high overall for Japan and it has not had much of an affect on operations. In fact I shut down some production of merchant vessels to speed up my carriers and save on HI points. I have no idea how it is affecting the Allies as they produce a lot more than I can. Here are the remaining ship losses ( I have combined AP/AKs and auxilliary ships, because they would have been a pain to count as individual types.

TK: 8 Allied 22 Japanese
AO: 4 Allied 2 Japanese
AP/AK: 301 Allied 105 Japanese
AUX: 283 Allied 79 Japanese

Most of the auxilliary losses for the Allies appear to be PTs and various LCs. Japanese losses in this category are mostly PGs and PCs.

Coral Splendor (The Samarinda operation) is costing us some more APs (Which we really can't spare) However, it does appear that the enemy is not going to try to kick us out of there. If he does, he will be in for a rude awakening!
