Would someone kindly tell me why none of my Wildcat fighters-carrier trained or based-will transfer to the Saratoga from another ship or base. It's driving me nuts .The Sara is running around the Pacific with no CAP and the Betty's are having the time of their lives trying to nail her. It's only a matter of time before the unthinkable happens. Also why won't my LCU's advance along the coastal New Guinea trails? I give them movement orders, point out the required destination, but it all stays greyed out AND NOTHING MOVES.I end up having to transport them by sea, providing more cannon fodder for the waiting Betty's.Those long range Japanese killers just love me,l'm their secret weapon in the Allied camp. And before all you grognards get sick of me and tell me to get lost l have this other problem with supply.Pearl never gets above the 3000 mark and everywhere else(except the US coastline) is less.I'm up to my eyeballs in fuel all the time, but supplies are hard to come by.Why?And one last thing before l go,for all the moaning minnies out there.I have been playing wargames for approx. 30 years now and as you can see l've still got a lot to learn and understand. But l do know a great game when l see one and this game is the greatest of them all.I go through every emotion you can think of playing this beauty and it's worth every penny, cent, yen or whatever currency you use. Many thanx in advance for any help l get. Back to those deadly Betty's.

Sara's fighters got whittled away in combat.Thats when my troubles started.Hornet and Wasp will take on new fighters but Sara won't.She'll take on Dauntless and Avengers but not Wildcats. So at present she is sailing around with a load of dive and torpedo bombers but only 2 fighters.I've tried loading Wildcats onto her from different bases and ships but the lady just isn't for it.It's probably stupid me doing something wrong, but l just can't work out what.

Have you docked the Saratoga in a major port with supply (ie Pearl) for a little while? If you do that and click "Accept replacements", the Wildcats should replenish themselves. This would work in any of the West Coast cities as well...

In the SAVE directory where you have installed WITP, there are save files. At end of each turn, a file witp000.wps is created. Or if you save a file, it will be named witp###.wps where ### is the slot you save it in.
Send him your witp000.wps (or the save file you create).

I had that happen twice. Both times I was able to rectify the situation by docking the CV in question and transferring the VF squadron ashore. Once ashore, it recovered normally and also took replacements normally after reembarkation.

You don't need to diesmbark the airgroups for it to take on replacements.

Normally you don't. But sometimes the game gets into a snit and won't do things right until you somehow change conditions, forcing it to look at things again.

Similar things can happen to damaged ships in port. I went a month with one ship not repairing any of its considerable damage. I reformed it, and then disbanded it - it started to repair right away. Similarly, i had a couple of MSWs in port with severe flooding. After about 6 or more turns, i noticed they still had the same degree of flooding, although disbanded in a size 6 port. I reformed them into a TF, disbanded it immediately, and next turn they started pumping out the flooding.

Sometimes you have to nudge the game...

I had this happen with a VB group a few months ago and I had to send them to a land base for about a month to fully recover.

Hi, Nothing can move to Sara because you have 5 groups onboard. Along with capacity a CV can only hold 5 groups. Get those partial units off and you can move more on.
However the best way would be to get her to port. Move all the groups off except for those you intend on keeping.
To rebuild the fighters make sure the group on the CV has no damaged ac and move to shore. Disband groups into it. (It seems you have many fragments of carrier groups scattered from Hawaii to Solomons. ) then move group back onto CV (The fragments will rejoin automatically when you move them to hex with parent)

The land units are again fragments. (not divided units) They reset their orders every turn to what their parent unit has.
When you divide a group you get parts A / B (Bde) or A/B/C (div) These parts are normal units. But if you load a portion of a unit or transfer by air you get a fragment. You really don't want fragments.
Go around and locate all of these and move them to the same hex. That should fix the land movement problem

Speaking of fragments, I've got a question - actually two:

1. I broke the AVG down into squadrons. One of the three squadrons got killed (overrun, all shot down, beamed somewhere in the galaxy, or something - I forget how) and left no fragment. I can't get the two remaining squadrons from recombining. Am I forever prevented from recombining the AVG (or any other group) in this situation? In other words, is it true that, in order to recombine, you must have an element from each of the three sub-units in the same hex? If one sub-unit is completely destroyed, the remaining sub-units can never recombine?

2. Am asking this one based on memory from many months ago. I got two of those USN replacement squadron/group thingies of about 50 a/c. I wanted to stick them on something like a CVE or CVL (don't remember the circumstances - maybe they were F6F's I received before F6F's were being manufactured). To squeeze them on, I broke the group down into three "squadrons." They were still too big so I broke a "squadron" down into "flights." Once done, I had something like VF-1/1/A, etc. Even though I never took losses that I recall, I don't believe that I could recombine all of the elements of VF-1/1 (i.e., A, B, and C), which appeared to prevent the recombination of VF-1/1, -1/2, and -1/3, so I was stuck with a bunch of fragments running around that I couldn't recombine. Comments?

Since we are speaking of fragments....
I have to fragments one a couple of F2Fs and the second one two or three Dauntless that remained after the second Coral sea debacle. I don't get the option to "accept replacements" on their screens. They have been sitting in Charter Towers for about a month of game time, I don't know where else to put them right now nor do I know what to do with them. Maybe wait for Wasp to arrive and transfer them there?

Any ideas?

Disband them without a return in 90 days to clear them out.

1. Yes. That is my understanding. If all parts are not present, the parent unit can't rebuild.
2. Fragments left by themselves are a nuisance. Move them to the parent, so it will automatically combine. Or "Disband them without return in 90 days".

They will not disband because they are the only groups with that kind of aircraft: F2F and devastators.
