Yep, I know thats how you interpret it. We just disagree here. Until Mike tells me differently, i see msgs of DD x fails to "hit" sub and more substantially, DD x dropping 4 x Mk 6 DC msgs (but with no "splashes" in the animation) as indications of dropped DC's.

what....no routing for me? Off with your head. (I wont use a gun because you've drunk so much booze there would probably be an explosion!)

Cheering for the Jap would be alien for me! Seriously, good luck to you both and the test/modifications.

BUT....(I can't let it go!)
To me, if no ammo is expended, how can the ships be said to be dropping DCs? When this explanation was given, the first thing I did was check the respective ships and none of them ever expend ammo. That's all it is, an explanation of what is happening to lessen the appearance of flaw in an already crippled ASW model. I find it really weird that even this little thing (having these ships expend ammo) was not added to 1.5 if this were indeed the case. Should have been simple enough given this is what we are told is happening.

I dont agree for the reasons i've given. Ammo is abstracted in the game. Like i said, until Mike tells me differently i'm not going to limit myself to seeing "splashes" in the animation as an indication of DC's being dropped.

Playing Japan is alien to you as well

Someday i'll get to be Allies....

Back from work trip. From next turn i'll be able to add in this AAR.

Nice surprises i got from first turn: many ships still in DEI and north Australia (with Japan CV fleet around Amboina), chinese troops (lot of them) right next to be encircled in Changsha.
In addition to this, part of english troops in Malaya defending Malacca, with Johore Bahru undefended!

I ordered chinese troops to start evacuate malacca and Changsha. and i started moving out ships from DEI trying to guess where the CV fleet would have gone (and to go elsewhere ).

However, The Hammer fell just right on my second turn (i was hoping to have 2-3 turns so i could fall back to Singapore and save some shipping and get out of Changsha the chinese) giving me no time to get out of the incoming disasters.

Changsha is now encircled and my units in 1 turn (2 days) didn't have time to get out of the city. It's still uncertain if i can beat the Japs and open back Changsha.
In addition, Nikademus was prolly aware Johore Bahru was undefended since before i took the game. Cause he now landed in Johore Bahru (just after bombing it to stoneage) cutting off my units in Malacca.
Lastly, CV fleet (KB prolly given the size of the attacks) went south close to north australia (i was betting he would have gone west towards Sorebaja). Result: some DD are now sunk.

While Malaya isn't a big deal (i would have lost the troops there anyway, but maybe gained 1 more month), the Changsha battle is a bad blow. if i can't get units out of it (and i think i won't), the whole China will become Japanese.

China had his own Stalingrad..95k brave farmers now are in japanese camps
Given the fact China doesn't get back the units in 1.4, this means CHina is an easy picking for Japan now. and they can even redeploy some chinese divs elsewhere.

Luckly, Units in Malacca have still a free path to Mersing so didn't surrender as well. With some luck maybe SIngapore can hold till february before falling.

I had supplies but Ron (Now Kaiser) had 5 fort levels and while my bombardments played hell with the base forces there, the INF LCU's remained intact enough to repulse the Banzai charge of the 38th Div. I think the Kaiser might have moved some LCU's up from Singapore to reinforce the position. If so, good move on his part. I knew it was a risk and orig meant to land the 38th at a Japanese port but i decided to gamble. All is not lost yet though.

True....1.5 fixes that by allowing destroyed Chinese units to return on the map at 1/3 strength in 30 days. Sort of represents not only China's endless supply of men but also the fact that when routed, Chinese armies tended to disintigrate via dispersement as soldiers throw away guns and uniforms and melt back into the countryside.

Not much to report other than what Nikademus already said: Japan advancing on all fronts, as they should in january .

My task for the next 5 months is just to move supplies and units in position, and to make japan lose time (and aircrafts) in DEI.

China: after the disaster in Changsha chinese units near Henchow on the move to avoid another encirclement. All quiet in the north so far.

Malaya: units from malacca made it to Johore Bahru. they avoided to get encicled. hopefully Singapore can resist 1 more month.

Burma: Japan advancing towards Rangoon. However, they failed to trap any Allied unit.

in DEI, near Koepang, KB engaged our fighters and butchered us.

Question: how many pilot did you add to the Japan pool? you mentioned you changed the pool rate for japan pilots.

IJN gets 1000 to start. Also increased pilot production a bit for IJN and compensated for it on the USN side and tweaked the central exp rating slightly. Purpose of the pool change is to introduce a more gradual exp curve loss for Japan, the severity dependant on how bad Japan gets attrit'd in the first year of the war.

Imperial forces, after a period of consolidation and preperation have gone over to the offensive aganst the Allied enclave in the PI's. Regrettably the first attack was repulsed by the brave defenders despite being heavily outnumbered. They payed for their inspired defense however by suffering very heavy casualites, mostly due to the extreme power of the massed Japanese artillery. While unsuccessful, the Imperial attack succeedd in erroding the overall defensive integrity of the position.

I-170 attempts to take out a Yankee DD but ends up heavily damaged for her troubles.

A 2nd assault on the American lines in the PI is repulsed but their position is further eroded. Commonwealth forces are on the run, pursued by ever victorious Imperial troops in Burma and Malaya

Well, not much to report so far. and not much to do either, except avoiding encirclements and save troops for another day.
and moving stuff in position.

In Malaya all troops made it to Singapore for a last stand. In Burma Japan failed to catch any troop in Rangoon.

After a week of heavy fighting, the Allied positions in front of Clarke Field are beginning to crumble. Lack of supply and being outnumbered over 2:1 by crack Imperial troops with heavy armor and arty support are within yards of the airfield. Victory is all but ensured! In Malaya, Allied forces have retreated to Singapore island with demolition teams blowing up the causeway connecting the island with the rest of the penisula. In Burma, Imperial troops continue the pursuit of Commonwealth remanents that had been defending the border.

ah, but that was just a test of the Emegency Broadcast System. Had this been a real emergency, your navy would be sitting on the bottom of the ocean.

A big day for Imperial forces. The Burmese capital of Rangoon, abandoned by the Commonwealth is offcially occuped. Japanese troops take charge of over three dozen damaged and abandoned enemy aircraft, left behind in the rush to evacuate the city. In the Philippines, the forward American positions at Clarke Field crumble and fall to Japanese forces. Some enemy units abandoned the position, falling back to their final defensive positions in the Bataan peninsula and Corregidor but over 15,000 enemy troops left behind as a rearguard were hurled from their defensive positions and are retreating in disorder towards Bataan.

In other news the I-22 avenges the battered I-170 (which has survived it's encounter with enemy destroyers) and torpedoes another American destroyer which is reported as heavily damaged and in a sinking condition.

The Imperial Army has begun preperations for the final assaults in Malaya and the PI's.

Imperial forces have all acheived their ICHI-GO objectives in China, faciliated by a complete withdrawl of all Chinese forces in the vacinity, an admitedly suprise move by Nationalist forces. Then again after the complete disaster of last month, preservation of forces would be key at this point for them.

Singapore fort has suprisingly held out under steady assault, now in it's fourth straight day of intense fighting. Imperial forces are approaching the heart of the city and are reportedly fighting door to door.

Combined Fleet has detected what appears to be a massive sub effort by the enemy. Counter-measures are being implemented.
