nothing like closing airfiled at benares
second assault at Kunchang - result as expected - as mentioned before I did itmostly cos of exp gains - now inf units are85+ and 2-3 such assaults are needed to give them 99
last experience shows that I don't really need many troops in china my 1000AP were able to stay in field against 38 chinase units - it is possible to bypass china - transfer troops to indochina/malaya/burma and still having advantage in theater - I need to think about it
as far as PP are concerned - no mystery - Raver will find my perimeter much stronger than historical - southern DEI /Gilberts/ Kuriles were main benefitors

Looks like there is little to offer for readers of this AAR at this moment
The good point is that we keep good turn pace and should get till end of 42 by mid March
I'm concentrated on training and supply issues as well as building forts everywhere + some medium activity in China but cos land combat is bugged there will be dynamics until next quarter - when I bomb out those units

to all readers -important hint/gamey- if you want to delay combat on continent do not defend in bases - just let yourselves cut off far behind lines -it will take ages to kill troops that would surrender when in base. My idea - do not defend north malaya in early game- pull all troops to mountain hex west of Khota baru - malaya will not be taken unitl june 42 and enemy will be forced to leave 2-3 div as blocade force

ahh... don't worry about supply or lack of ( destroyed - sooner or later artillery) - it is not needed
similar situation for fighting in Russia - do not go for Vladivostock immiedietaly - i had a plan where I could capture it in 2 days - but it is wrong - you need to give enough time for russian divisions from border hills to go into city otherwise you will loose 3-4 month on clearing them- this way I never attacked Russia even if I was ready to do it after blitzkrieg in PI

I'm either too weak or don't see good return on risk from offensive actions and Raver is far too weak to conterattack - I don't count bomber raids
looks like 1 st stage of war is closed
and we started parity time

Kungchang - weird land combat - 2/6/2006 5:33:06 PM

Raver - execute lazy pilots by sending over my airfields - move them to India to give them fight ability

we reached 07/23/42 today

daily activity over china - my helens and sallys reached high 80' from constant bombing - soon first group will reach 90 ( they will be preserved later and used in asw tasks)
Kungchang situation in details : - enemy out of base and cut off
enemy army group has only 2 guns left - probably is out of ammo and food by now, in next few days I will assault once more and expect to achieve 10:1 after that my troops will be out of use again -( who the hell created land combat in this game?)
Army comparison
Chinase 150k troops , 2 guns , exp should be 50-60 , supply: most should be out of ammo and food
there are sth like 30 inf units there(38 total) - in full strenght they are worth 8-9k AP now they are at ap 50-60% so sth like 4-6k - out of supply should be calculated as 25% - it means 1-2k effective AP - Don't know how is diffrence in experiance calculated but expect that it is equivalent of
1-1.5k Japenase AP
disruption should be light to medium - constant bombing + bombarding in last 5-6 weeks + 2-3 assaults
Japenase 230k troops worth nominally almost 5k AP - now sth like 4.2K as disabled squads are repairing slowly , 3k guns and 3 tank regiments - 200 - 250 tanks : supply situation good - between 1-2x supply req.
exp is 80+ with many units at 90
300+ 2E bombers work in support role almost every day. disruption none to light ( bombarding)
IRL I would expect chinase to stay 2 weeks
3 weeks in optimistic variant
4-5 weeks should be a deadline for this operation as bayonets are not particullary effective against tanks and with no artillery on chinase side japenase would be used from short range in direct support as well as tanks .
Circumstances are similar to partisants battles in central and east europe when amounts of heavy weapons and supply is concerned
in all cases partisants were down in 2 weeks or shorter period as lack ammo and heavy weapons reduced efficiency of these units to barely 0 level

What the hell is modelled in WITP ?
Soon I will get another 7-15:1 result and loose 15-20% of assult ability for 4-5k casualties on enemy side - this way I will not eliminate them till the end of year - I know many players finds land combat too fast but this case is extreme

If anybody has any good idea about what to do about this - beside waiting for patch correcting land combat - I will apreciate

another Kungchang attack
i doesn't make sense to me - troops are out of use again - 350 guns disabled - even if Chinase don't have even single piece of heavy equipment
decision was made to change tactics here
there are other places in china which deserves my attention - I will leave enough troops to maintain 150k POW camp and go away

nothing new on front - tomorrow I'll post statistics
it was not mentioned that I moved some 300k of supplies to china to give my army offensive abilities
by the end 42 I would have fortified both 1st and 2nd line of my defensive perimeter - small bonus for being not everextended during "grabbing" phase of war.
Supply situation is good enough to start repairing 43 R&D factories as well as slowly build up forts in places like Borneo and Saipan

it is August and my Oscars should auto convert to Tonys - does anybody know when exactly autoconvertion takes place - My claudes and nells did not want to autoconvert and I hope I will not have to wait to long. Tony are really needed on the front in DEI and India

4th Aug 42
enemy bombed Lautem again
it is interesting as casualties are quite heavy but I only lost 1 gun and few single squads in last 5-6 bombing raids (up to 300 B17)
maybe forts have it influence - managed to lift them to 7 (koepang is at 9) basicly I'm dug deep in most important places and soon my supply usage will drop again
nevertheless 5 B17 down from ops :-)

China - 2 southern bases are abandoned and my troops will take it - Raver strenghtens Chunging will all his troops
looks like soon only 4 west-northern bases will be left in chinase hands

bad news are I'm again short on PPs - only 5 are left
but ... ARM division is now free to use as well as reinforcements to northern area - it should be well secured to at least till mid 43 I think and tank division will be used offensively in China
I think that sooner or later I'll face sth like 1 milion of chinase troops at fort 9 at Chungking urban hex - who cares they will be out of suply - there will be 1 million of them multiplied by x9 and x.25 so effective force of 2 miliion troops - I fear to think about them

6th August 42
Wuchow taken
Kweilin taken
Here I want to halt for a moment - secure freshly taken bases - when forts reach 3-4 I'll be able to move further
main chinase railroad cleared and operational
I'm little disappointed waiting for Tony autoconvertion...
in mine war I'm pleased as I'm clearing another sub's surprise and overall result is very positive to me

And yes - it is a little bit boring so time to plan new operation - I have quite a lot of forces not commited to the front so strike and come back operation is reasonable

For weeks now I have been bombing Benares but Sneer has refused to fight....this time intel shows that there is a rather large buildup of fighters at Benares which means that Sneer grows tired of me bombing the snot out of his troops. I have therefore issued orders to to the fighters at Lucknow to sweep the skies clean of jap fighters. The sky will run red with blood, but the question is whos?
Stay tuned!

I produce Tojo since July (1 month ahead of schedule)

expected results :
I was sweeped by 90 hurricanes and 80 Spitfires
77Tojo and 9 A6m3 scrambled

67hurricanes + 23 spitfires were shot down for a loss of 55 tojo and 3 A6m3

weird results aren't they ??????
over 50% of fighting a/c shot down in single day

hello - developers / moderators - it is crazy - if both sides are experienced enough than nobody returns from fights
It is game but stupid at the moment - sorry - I had to write that

It is a very surprising result -- maybe the pilots had extra rations of grog/sake that day. Speaking of pilots, how many did you manage to save?

all units were 80 exp
only 30% managed to survive the day

i don't mind losses - bloodiness of A2A is crazy
such losses for such forces could be after 4-5 days IRL

I'm loosing will to play Witp
we are just going into mass a2a period
I start thinking about pausing game till a2a and land combat will be repaired

Greetings...

I guess that you have learn to live with that - like many others (including me). I'm with you about A2A combat but don't think it going to happend (then lots of stuff should be changed too if we wanted to achive balance in the game). Mike Wood gave us cookie for upcoming patch - maybe he decreased support for airfield level from 50 to 25? Thats our only hope i think....

PS did your Oscars autoupgraded?

yes
close to 10th of August
good I have excellent supply / industry situation so I can withstand such losses
my pr0duction numbers
A6m2 220
A6m3 72
Tony 182
Tojo 195
650+ fighters per month + enough supply to train pilots - much above historical Jap production - - but not in case I will loose 100 per 2 days
