Yes Honda is keeping me "in".  The game with him has been very bloody with the IJN having lost 2 CV plus another 2 CV in the boat yard for at least the next 12 months. However it has not been all one sided, I have lost 6 fleet carriers, 4 USN and 2 RN.   Wake has been retaken while Honda has landed in India with a frigging HUGE army, has cut off most of my Brits in Burma and looks likely to simply stroll his way to victory over all of India.

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 12/23/43
day 1 of operation santa claus
i noticed that enemy surface group of min 3 cruisers and 5-6 DDs dock at aru isl
i knew there is corsair/p38 cap over them
operation santa claus was to destroy this group
Betties were located in notrh PNG and kendari as well as morotai and menando all with range that allow only aru isl
escort was given to kendari and amboina
namlea and 2 png bases were ordered to sweep aru before LBA arrives
3 hexes north of aru arrived 2 air TFs each with 200 planes on decks with range of Aru
escort/cap 50/50 - they were not rushing at max speed- fueled with max sorties not overloaded
idea was that i can take all ships from group
let's see result
to readers knowledge - clouds did not cover any base
some of my groups had problems with morale or fatique - but that why i put 200 LBA and 100 fighters -i estimated that half of them will launch and 300 planes from carriers will finish
what happened ......
let's see

what happened ...
i don't know - carriers refused to launch strike - fatique and morale was ok close to max so not a problem
they refused
few weeks ago they went after much stronger opponent and now they ignored cruiser TF - there was no other target in the area
lba sweep was no match to MR "corsair" and cap managed to stop most lba from launching
major disaster
1 DD sunk in action 70 planes lost
i keep talking that my worst opponent in this game is engine not Raverdave - i'm behind the level of frustration
i'm simply sad if i see sth like this
I think about other RL duties and think that WITP can really wait till next week

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 12/24/43
why should I stop witp this week ???
i decided that if enemy carriers are at derby - 2 sailing days away i can strike airfields of tenimbar and aru with heavy guns of my escort
not the brightest idea as you may see
CL Kiso is sunk
one CL and one DD are heavily damaged however they should reach port
and 1 CA is moderately damaged
i will have to think about what happened in previous turn
and i will not rush for next turn
is witp really worth the time spent ???

I know it's amazingly frustrating, but the game engine is not that far off. It wasn't only the Thunderbolts, corsairs, and P-38J's that gave air superiority to the Allies: by late '43 their air coordination had gotten much better as well.

(This is why I'm still hoping for a game in the Med: the advantage shifted back and forth several times with the introduction of various aircraft types, and the change in priorities for both sides. In the Pacific, it's Japanese huge advantage, a few months of near parity, then Allied huge advantage.)

The REAL reason that Sneer's CVs didn't launch is that they are a bunch of cowards.

my morale is lower than in betty sqn in 43 after attacking carriers
i ask myself why I spend time where i can do actualy nothing
if combined fleet is unable to hit cruiser sqn carelessly left without almost any protection

Raverdave - very funny
it was not yours troops that faced absurd situation in chungking and now are late for your east india offensive
it was not your planes that with 3:1 advantage failed to reach enemy carriers
it was not your carrier commander that decided to commit suicide and knocked out 30% of your offensive power
and it was not your fleet that decided that 10 enemy ships -big cruisers including- is not worth their time
you are still far from hitting me hard enough in this game , till that date engine is more dangerous
but i will not play against 2 opponents at once

Sneer i dont think you have to be offended(?) by what your opponenet said.
I think he was rather joking than anything else. After all noone can claim that you had done less than superb in this game of yours. For every jap fanboy-myself included-your game is the holy bible of "how to play WITP" gaming.
There is no dought that you could have made it better hasnt been the engine and so but with less luck it could also have been worse(dice roll).
Still i do enjoy reading it and even if the curced allies manange to defeat the honorable and capable imperial troops and land in Tokyo bay we(jap fanboys)still adore you().

it is not that easy
if you combine big operation of 700 planes and 70% of combined fleet to kill 10 warships under 30 fighters you should be able to do it unless weather prevents you from flying
2 months  ago  400+ strike were not able to penetrate 100+ cap
it was not written in AAR but i lost above 1000 of 2e bombers and escort fighters in last 2 months , i doubt if allied losses were above 50 planes
i saw this already in PZB's AAR so i don't complain
not counting other theaters of course - but if i don't loose 50 planes per day this day was good for Japan - still not a decisive problem - industry is strong  and pool is even stronger

i'm thinking about quiting
i don't understand this game any more

I might be willing. What slot are you guys using? It might require a rename of the save file. I have 4 games going now. 3 as Japan and 1 as Allies (my first).

I would likt to look it over before commiting of course.

We are using slot 7 but that is easy to change (as is the file rename).  I think that you will be very pleased with how Sneer has managed the jap economy so far but it would be a case of looking at the game file.   We shall wait and see what Sneer intends to do.

I have slot 7 open. I am using 5,6......9,10........12,13.........15,16.................notice the spread? I try to keep a backup file of each game at least once a week. In case of oopsy's or hiccups. Just let me know.

I think at this point I'll just continue with the two games with Luskan and Honda, thanks to both 2nd ACR and pauk for the offer.
