time to rest a bit after last action
I proved that every place can be a hunting ground for me and SE Pac will be worth at least one more trip in the future
There are no 100% safe routes for allies in this game at leat till late 43
24 big TK loaded with fuel
4 AK loaded with supplies
5-6 AP loaded with 4 artillery units
7-9 empty AK
1 DD
not a bad balance for this trip
sian oilfields out - now he will be forced to use his oil reserves
I decided that China theater need to be under preassure
I want to starve them if only I can do this
AVG seems to lick wounds - I think that I shot down more then 50% of it
unless Raver moves UK fighters to China air superiority is mine
Batavia industry will be repaired in a few days
Soerabaja industry was taken intact
Raver managed to empty partially oil and resources stored here unfortunatelly
Medan with rest of dutch troops should be taken in 2-3 days
As I wrote in AAR forum 2 Jap Inf Div are more then enough to clear Java fast without taking too much risk of going for Kragen or assaulting Soerabaja directly
my troop losses are very small even if I was considered not to care about losses.
Well with troops freed on Luzon taking Borneo and Celebes is a matter of 6-8 weeks without commiting major LCUs so I consider 1st part of offensive done.
Next important events soon but ...- it is time to combine 2nd step of offensive.
main idea was to attack on 2 fronts utilising I'm far ahead of historical schedule
Russia and SW Pac are very tempting , India too. Burma already conquested and its army destroyed so doesn't count. North Australia is of lower interest but this region can be very difficult later so taking out Darwin would be good or even very good.
From strategic point of view best long term choice is Russia./unless you play only to 43/
lot of resources/oil/HI - empty rear area/ troops ready to move to China
end they get ahistorical amount of reinforcement so going after it later can be difficult.
historically Russia was not as strong - I interpret it as a developer idea to keep players from millitary right but pollitically impossible decision.
Second best is India however I don't belive Karachi can be taken from well playing Human opponent - even if, there is too many coastal bases to be defended later and Karachi can be cut off by allied player in 43.
SW Pac - empty to me now - I can take Caledonia easily -as well as islands. I don't like logistics in this region but Raver is weak in this place and success is almost sure. With KB reasonably used Australia will be cut off West coast or would force early carrier battle - would be nice to starve China and Oz same time. north Australia - well nice to have DEI secured but only when done together with SW PAC - with preasure on Australia from both east and north ....it would be nice to take Australia as 1st player :-)
Raver is from Melbourne - he would fight to death for this place .........

Maybe my opponent will add 2 cents to this discussion - I'm interested how he sees the strategic scope - of course without use of confidential information

I hate to loose that many tankers in one hit, but in the over all picture it matters little. Sneers CVs have now been at sea for three months without a break, and his sys damage must be creeping up into the yellow. He will have to port them sooner rather than later. Never had an oponent willing to send his carriers that far southeast before so it came as a bit of a shock.

My CVs are steaming south but i doubt that they will make it into the AO in time. Might be better to send them back to port.

The main focus of my game will be to try and preserve as much of my units as possible for the rest of '42. It's going to make for a boring game for Sneer but it has to be done if I am to come out swinging at the start of '43 which I plan to do. The question that I have to think about is where to hit him first? I have done the Island hop game to death so I am thinking of doing something right off the wall. Down through Burma and China maybe? Using that route gives me lots of airfields to support my LCUs while negating his naval power (with the exception of getting the LUCs to India from the states).

carriers are at better shape then expected - cruising preserve sys dam. - all KB ships are green by now
I'm tempted in heading north to meet US carriers
battle is always short so low level of sorties will not be a difficulty

4:1 in 2/42 does not always tranlate to 4:1 in 1/43. There is a lot of war left in 1942.

borneo/celebes/sumatra bases and troops are easy score to be picked and will offer me a lot
I can go for Nomua - no troops there - as I killed reinforcement going
India - open - burma army destroyed
Russia- it takes time but it certainly is to be taken by 43
there is little chance there will be less then 4:1 at 43 but.....
it is rather sth for my satisfaction that strategy chosen was good and all assumptions right
I don't want to stop at 43 - i want to play till 45 as I rarely have opportunity to play with opponent like Raverdave
I want to see how to defend effectively.
it is more play to gain good defensive position then score hunting. I'm just surprised "blitz" is so effective.

Smart move taking Akyab, as any jap player who does not, will doom Rangoon by mid'43.

It is interesting to look at the Allied Vs Jap aircraft losses in the post above. A lot of CLs DDs and SSs lost as well as a large amount of Merchant shipping. Most of my naval units were lost during Sneers opening moves in the attack on the PI as well as the DEI. US Navy flat tops are not scratched....this is important for the rest of '42.

A Varied setup will allow the Jap to run wide as we are seeing here and I would think that there is little or nothing that could be done to slow him down.

Currently India is at risk and I think that is where the blow will fall next. If he brings enough force then India will fall which then places China in an untenable position.........no place to sorce suppies from.

Exeter and Mutsu were lucky today
air attacks not dangerous - landing tomorrow
time to think also about southern front and clear rest of DEI
Main idea in East Indai is to grab very concentrated good value airbases - it is a key to future defence against allied air power. It's best perimeter at this border - burmanese jungle in comparison with real life can't stop any determined player

ok 1st wave landed almost completly
supplies almost enough on land
I have 150k troops in diamond harbour together with large amount of tanks and guns
In case of troubles I have operational reserves ready to be used and I can even double this amount in a month time
chandpur is easier to capture but diamond harbour offers more for Japan... and I like to have all option open.
well paras landed on Raver's operational reserves :-) he will feel how nice is to loose time to kill troops that has no escape route - my bet this best unit will loose 3-5 days at least to kill equivalent of para rgt :-)
I'd say that PTboats are overrated - day combat and 2 PT move close enough to put torp in BB - hopefully damage is light
It paid off to postpone attack few days waiting for bad weather :-)
very low air activity today - only 2 of some 300 transport damaged

Bloody limp-wristed blue suiters ! They are nothing but a bunch of over payed wankers ! I had tasked the RAF to hit his transports while they were still at sea, and the RAF had three days in which the jap TFs were in range. Well they stuffed up the job big-time and now the grunts are going to have to carry the can. Sneer has already mentioned it but he landed his paras right on top of my theater reserve unit, the 18th Div Shades of a Bridge too Far.

Sneer's landing at DH has left me on the hop as the bulk of my units are to the east of his landing point. I am now having to rush all of these units to the west and the north in an effort to try and block him at river crossings. If Sneers' previous invasions are anything to go by he will have the airfield at DH up and running as soon as he has taken it bringing his air units to help out. This guy is moving harder and faster than any other Jap opponent that I have ever faced and I am now in unchartered territory as to what to do

On the bright side of things he copped at least 10,000 causlties hitting the beach at DH.....man that has got to hurt !

If sth can go wrong it goes
I intended to capture DH on turn 1 -failed - and it was close
I was also very close to take Akyab fast - failed too
Raver got good dice rolls during last few days - even if his air did not strike successfully - it is impossible to stop 300+ invasion tf
now this fight will take much more time
I don't fear the result - I can't imagine forces strong enough to dislodge my army off India - but it will take time and will be bloody.
But it must be done.
I consider sending strong reinforcement

i believe that some (or all) divs come from Philippines. Sneer captured PI very quickly - IMO Raver made mistake there, instead keeping all forces there together in one base (CF or Manila) he dispersed them and allows Sneer to capture PI earlier...

of course, you have to give credit to Sneer, he deserved a nick - "Polish devil". good job so far Sneer...

Makes sense. I'm currently bogged down just about everywhere in a game I'm playing as Japan as my opponent has massed his forces in several key choke points in each theatre and won't budge.

troops were taken from PI - I managed to split enemy forces and then take all fast - it was not Raver's fault
details in AAR
Singapore fell 26 or 27th DEC ( again split enemy forces),Manila close to 10-13th Jan but you must check -part of Malaya troops cleared rest of peninsula , rest took Java and most PI troops (without reserves) moved to east India

i believe that some (or all) divs come from Philippines.

I never got the chance to mass my forces......Sneer hit me high and low and his landings split my units. Burma is another classic example, he moved very fast and once again didn't allow the allies to mass, this has proven to be a very good tactic.....damn-his-blackheart!
