CMANO - Sakura Blue, 2018 Scenario Highlight

Posted: Wednesday, March 6, 2019 by Daniele Meneghini

Sakura Blue 2018 is a fictional joint forces exercise held between regional allies Taiwan (Republic of China) and Japan.

The exercise is intended to allow Japanese forces to practice defence against an incursion into their territory while providing an opportunity to allow Taiwanese forces to practice holding territory against an amphibious invasion.

The scenario is playable from either side. Will you be able to hold the islands of Yonaguni, Taketomi, Ishigaki, Tarama and Miyakojima as the Republic of China? Or will you reclaim your territory commanding the Japanese Self Defence Forces?...

Field of Glory: Empires Dev Diary #4 - Commerce and Trading

Field of Glory: Empires Dev Diary #4 - Commerce and Trading

Posted: Tuesday, March 5, 2019 by Daniele Meneghini

Welcome to the fourth installment of the Empires dev diaries. This week, we will talk about trading and commerce, and how buildings are very important in relation to this.

As you might remember from our previous diary on buildings, they provide a lot of opportunities and benefits. But many will need trading goods to work to their full capacity. They will still function even if the trading good is not available, but you’ll pay a hefty sum each turn, to simulate the convoluted ways by which you manage to get a trickle of the precious trade good. For some buildings, this is sometimes worthwhile as they might be instrumental in how you have setup your empire, but in other cases you will be better to disable or destroy the building.

Neverdark has been announced!

Neverdark has been announced!

Posted: Monday, March 4, 2019 by Alberto Casulini

On December 24th 2030 a global blackout occurred. In an instant, the world lost access to electricity, and suddenly so many things that we had taken for granted were gone; the Internet, global communications, electronic devices… all gone.

War emerged as governments fell. Society collapsed upon itself and guns, medicine and food became the new currency. A new world rose from the ashes of the old one, one ruled by bands of raiders, religious cults, bikers gangs, idealistic democratic communes and organisations built around charismatic leaders. Cities became battlegrounds. This is the world of Neverdark!

Command: Desert Storm has been announced!

Posted: Thursday, February 28, 2019 by Daniele Meneghini

On August 2, 1990, Iraq’s ground forces invaded and occupied Kuwait. 40% of the world’s oil production, and the developed world’s economy, was placed in imminent threat by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. In response, the United States promptly assembled an international coalition to attack and expel Iraqi forces out of Kuwait, and to eliminate Hussein’s capability to repeat such an act in the future. What followed would forever transform the face of war.

Command: Desert Storm has been announced! Relive the pivotal events of the conflict that sealed the Cold War and radically changed the Middle East geopolitical landscape.

Field of Glory: Empires Dev Diary #3 - Buildings

Posted: Monday, February 25, 2019 by Daniele Meneghini

One of the pillars of Empires is how regions, the basic geographical unit are handled. Regions are at the heart of the game and managing them properly will make or undo whole nations.

We have already mentioned that regions have a population, split into different ‘population units’ and the buildings constructed in the region. Today we will speak of buildings, as they are every bit as important as the citizens and slaves of your regions, if not more even!

During the next few weeks, we will aim to show how you manage a country in Field of Glory: Empires.  So let’s get stuck in!

TOAW IV Scenario Highlight: Operation Neva - Leningrad 1944

On January 14th, 1944, Leningrad Front and Volkhov Front launched a combined offensive against the German 18th Army still standing at the outskirts of Leningrad. The plan was to break through to Luga from north and East and encircle the army, before continuing the attack to the Panther Line still under construction and break into the Baltic.

The Germans had in the previous months severely weakened the army by transferring many divisions south and was planning a withdrawal to shorten the front line. The offensive started before they could implement this plan 'Blau'.
