Western Civilization Software and Matrix Games release their American Civil War grand strategy title.
Matrix Games and Western Civilization Software (www.west-civ.com) are pleased to announce the release of Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War strategy game. Based on the Crown of Glory engine, Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War is the latest incarnation of Western Civilization Software's already popular Napoleonic War title.
David Heath, Director of Operations expressed his excitement that the next grand strategy project from Western Civilization has finally come to fruition: "Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War includes all of the addictive gameplay that brought such high acclaim to Crown of Glory while still capturing the look and feel of commanding large armies during the Civil War. Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War is a fun, accessible game for strategy fans and a rich historical journey back to the 1860s for Civil War buffs and grognards."
Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War is packed with historical detail as you can control the careers of more than 1,000 generals. In addition, you can custom tailor your army to meet your liking with over than 50 types of period firearms and artillery, historical field armies containing the Iron Brigade, the Orphan Brigade or 100 other legendary units, and over 700 authentic flags to choose each units' own standard. On the management and operational side of things, as a General you will be charged with allocating resources toward research in order to gain improved technology and logistical support in five different areas. Forge of Freedom: The American Civil War also contains an in depth naval aspect as well. You can command your navy to hunt blockade runners, blockade ports, launch amphibious assaults, and even launch a good old fashioned fort bombardment.
