On December 7th 19141, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service launched "Operation AI", a pre-emptive strike against the US Pacific Fleet stationing at the Hawaiian base of Pearl Harbor. On that day - "the day of infamy" on Roosevelt words - the Japanese damaged seriously all the battleships and sunk some, almost a hundred of US aircraft got destroyed and more than two thousand men were killed. The Japanese thought to have put the United States off from the chance to interfere with the establishment of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. What they did, on the contrary, was to wake a sleeping bear.
December 7th didn't mark the supremacy of the Japanese Empire, it marked the beginning of its end.

Battleships are back on the Pacific Ocean! We are very proud to announce that one of the biggest updates of all time is coming today. Indeed, even if War In The Pacific Admiral’s Edition was already the most detailed wargame focused on the Pacific theater ever, this update is going to push the boundaries of awesomeness still further! Thanks to dozens of changes and enhancements, version 1.01.24 will live in the community’s memory for a very long time. Data fixes and improvements on the horizon!

The new comprehensive 1.01.06i is the first major data update since the release, with dozens of fixes and improvements through the game data for equipment, ships, planes, units and scenarios. Please note that you will need to start a new game to see the full effect of these data fixes and improvements. A few code fixes are also included, which will apply to all games.

The new comprehensive 1.01.02a update comes with heaps of changes, fixes, and improvements including support for variable resolutions and even widescreen support. Gone are the days of 1024x768 – you can now see as much of the gorgeous map as your monitor will allow! Other changes include adjustments to anti-sub warfare and torpedo effectiveness, many interface improvements, gameplay improvements galore, and much more – well over 100 changes, fixes and improvements.

Anticipation has been reaching new heights with the approaching release of War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition. This sequel to War in the Pacific will require ownership of the original and is aimed at the veteran wargamers who have been enjoying War in the Pacific and asking for more. Among the many things fans are looking forward to is the full color 330 page printed manual that will be included in the first official "Collector's Edition" release here at Matrix Games. This is the largest, most comprehensive manual we've released and the first one of this size to be printed in full color. As a special preview for those who are already familiar with War in the Pacific and as thanks for their patience during the development process, we are making available a series of excerpts from the final manual - in total a whopping 75 pages of new information (still just a fraction of the actual manual though!).
