Immortal Fire
This volume covers the armies of the Classical and Hellenistic eras from the development of the hoplite system in Greece in the 7th century BC until the Hellenistic successor kingdoms that derived from the break-up of Alexander the Great’s empire came into conflict with Rome from the 3rd century BC onwards.
It includes all the armies of the wars of the Greek city states against each other and against the might of the Achaemenid Persian Empire, the Greek counter-offensive against Persia under the Macedonian King Alexander the Great, and the wars of Alexander’s successors. It also details many other armies peripheral to these conflicts.
This is a period of great variety, with many different colourful troop-types vying for tactical dominance. Each army has its own special character, making this one of the most fascinating periods of military history for the wargamer to explore.
