Yes its a shame about the ending but it was an excellent game. You can see from Hermans picture my last 3 tornados about to get wasted!

Here are some pics of my own :)

Mark Admiral dropped through and couldn't resist the temptation of battle!

We played Lone Wolf with the PlayersDB. Thanks for the scenario, Dave Steinmeyer! It was so much fun, we played it, again!

Thanks to Tony and HarpGamer for the use of their server!

Another game on Tony's server, myself Jan and Herman played a nice scenario for sneaky players and sneaky tactics :)

Heres a shot of me nearly getting to the *SAFE ZONE* a while before we had a crash :(

Good old landscape acoustic masking bwahaha, might have been the longer route, but it was the safest!

The server at Stratsims has been updated to the 3.7.1 attempt 1 beta version of Harpoon 3. Also, the newest PDB version has been loaded and a couple of scenarios Herman and Taitennak sent me. If a HHQ representative wants to send me the beta of DB2k I'd be happy to update the DB2k server here.

The ANWDB server is no longer running as I'm using that processor to get the server ready for it's work use here at my office. If you want to play on ANWDB, drop me a line and we'll arrange a time.

Thanks Tony,

That db is still in beta so the scenarios haven't been updated yet. Will get with you when we get there but for now probably not a real great idea. Thanks for the offer though

Well, a bit sad to say the server is back to 3.7.0.0 after 3.7.1.0 difficulties, still, come play!

We welcomed a new fellow into the world of Harpoon3 Multi-player. Shelback dropped in for a game and we managed to get through Dawn Patrol.

However, I got dropped from the server when we tried a second scenario. So, Shelback ended up blasting a bunch of uncontrolled 'target' drones.

Hopefullly, we will get another chance to go head-to-head in the near future.

Thanks again to HarpGamer for hosting a server with 3.7.0 software!

Eric (Accuracy13) and I spent the night challenging the ownership of the Spratley Islands in the scenario, "Whose Islands are these?" from the ODb.

An excellent game of cat and mouse with me ending up as fish bait after a well fought battle. If only my missiles had been a bit more accurate...

Thanks, again to Tony and HarpGamer for hosting the server.

I think that we had a great session, today. We played a four-sided game with one observer. Although it did end in a minor crash, it was nice while it lasted and fun for all involved.

Thanks to Eric (Accuracy13), Choowee, Jan Masterson, and Shelback for a fun time.

We also welcomed Rhondalynn Brown into the fold with her first Harpoon MP experience. Hopefully, she will be back often and soon. Our very own Amanda Cunningham.

The HarpGamer server certainly got a work out. We also put it through 4 more ASW scenarios. Thanks to everyone for dropping in and thanks to HarpGamer for the use of their server.

Well folks, the day was long delayed but I have all of my work services transferred over to the new server (the one running H3). However, I found that it can do a decent job of handling both H3 server duties and my regular server duties. I may bring back one or two instances of the H3 server in two weeks or so. Anyway, if you want to play on the Stratsims server, best do it before I shut it down in about 4 hours.

It's been an incredible 8 weeks of pure enjoyment.  I know that I speak for anyone and everyone who has played a game via the server over the last 8 weeks when I say, thanks to Tony and HarpGamer.

We've played hundreds of scenarios and welcomed dozens of new members to the Harpoon community.  This by no means is the end of MP with HarpGamer.  Just join up with us on the HG chat room and we will find another means to play MP.

Now, why does everyone say that like it was a BAD thing?

I'm going to end up with a real complex one of these days....

Hi all,

I'm relatively new with Harpoon 3 ANW and the Multiplayer game. I used to play Harpoon classic with great pleasure. I'm very happy to see that the A.I. can be replaced by real people and worthy opponents. But I was not able to connect to the server mentionned in this thread (72.21.228.42:14342). I'm sure my firewall is not the guilty part, as I saw that the server was down (pinging out). Are there any MP new servers up & running? And should I patch my game or not?

Please let me know!

Thanks,

Herman

The server previously mentioned in this thread is not currently available. We hope (and pray ) for its return in the near future.

As yet, I don't know know of anyone currently hosting a server. If you like, you can host a game yourself if you allow your computer to act as both server and client. That way, other folks can sign onto your server and play against you.

The process is detailed in the FAQ at the top of this section:

How to set up and ANW Server

I DO NOT RECOMMEND that you install the Beta-Patch 3.7.1 if you are interested in MP play. See:

Bug Report: CTD when torpedo fired

If you decide to act as a server, let others know so that we can give you a game.

Welcome aboard, shipmate!

If you have a server up or are looking for an MP game, drop a line here or look for us on HarpGamer pHp chat room or the HG mIRC chat room.

Some of the other guys might be willing to act as the server if you are unable or unwilling to do so.

Thanks again Herman and Tony with setting up IRC and H3 ANW as server on my PC last nite. It took some time, but we got there at the end. Unfortunatle, when trying to act as server for the first time Herman was kicked out of the game after 5 minutes of play. And then I was kicked. It seemed the internet gateway software had crashed leading to a complete loss of internet and a crash of the server. Luckily I did not have to reboot my PC. But it was very annoying when I tried to launch an attack on that Russian Nanauchka of Herman the computer decided to play against itself .

I will try to find out in the windows error logs what went wrong, but I'm not sure I can find the reason for the server crash. My PC and bandwith should be enough; Pentium P4 2,8 mhz; 1 GB RAM; 1 MPBS upload and 4 MBPS D/L speed. And firewall deactivated (which made me feel a bit naked).

I hope to play again this weekend against one or more of you! And I still want to sink that boat of yours Herman .

Herman

Oh, please don't disable firewall alltogether, at a bare minimum leave the XP firewall up and running. You are very naked without it!

Naked Harpoon3 play?! Now, that is just wrong on so many levels...

But I'll certainly keep "Co-ed Naked Harpoon" in mind when we organize our next competition.

We finally got that pesky connection to work and we finished our game.

We had such a great time that we decided to switch sides and try it three more times. Although I managed to eke out victories, Pegasus really pushed me to the limit. Sometimes, the difference between victory and defeat hinged on the result of a single missile....

Thanks for a great series of games and for acting as the server.

My pleasure Herman! But I still need to learn a lot more. I'm happy we did have no crash at all last nite. Next time a scenario including subs perhaps?

Tony, thanks for the tip I have adjusted my XP firewall settings to allow H3 ANW through. I deactivate Zonelabs temporarily during gameplay, and activate XP firewall. It's done in a sec.

We just welcomed Blond Knight to the wonderful world of H3: MP.

Although BK said that he was a 'noob', he acquitted himself like a real pro! Here is another one of those 'Wolves in sheep's clothing'.

We tried out "Whose Islands Are These?" from the Original DB and fought each other to a standstill. Of course, I helped BK out by shooting myself in the proverbial a$$ when I sank my most powerful ship with an errant SSM shot!

Welcome aboard, shipmate, and may we have many more sessions to come.

The Leningrad Naval Academy commenced its fall semester, tonight.

The first class set in the Sea of Okhotsk. Things got off to an auspicious start (at least for me). Detected a submarine lurking across my Path of Intended Movement [PiM] and prosecuted her with Extreme Prejudice. It could have been a long search, but I got lucky and dropped a sonobuoy right atop her. Like the saying goes, "I'd rather be lucky than good."

Three Mk50 Barracuda torpedoes later, no more sub.

Blond Knight launched a strike from Vladivostok who dumped their missiles in the face of heavy fighter opposition before fleeing back to base with Tomcats in pursuit.

This looks to be a great scenario!

The son of a Politburo member was serving aboard that submarine.  They were on a scientific mission to detect fish concentrations to assist the Far East fishing fleet.
