and that is definately what I would have thought if the AI were capable
of that emotion. Most likely it is a programming thing (glich maybe).
The reports of 4 of my combats are below. I refer you to the last one
which surprised me. Could it have been the 60 warships in 5 TFs that
caused the AI to turn tail & run for home. Only the Dev Team knows
for sure (than again, maybe not)...

the bombers had low morale and after two were destroyed and two were damaged the rest turned around... nothing special, you should see that on and on in the game...

I also wonder if fatigue when flying great distances comes into play.
I know Bettys and Zeros have a high plane endurance with distance
but that in itself would cause a fatigue problem with pilots & crew in
staying aloft that long. I'm playing this AI game mainly to check on
all the different ways that the game programming handles these things.
After this, I would like to take part in a 3 vs. 3 PBEM game down the road....

Yes it does. Fatigue effects morale.

Weather aside, put yourself in their pilots situation. If I was in a Betty flying
1000 miles and I looked below and saw 60 enemy warships, it would depend
greatly what I was carrying, bombs or torpedo. If bombs, I would probably
make a high level pass, drop the bombs and get the H*LL out of dodge.
If torpedos, I'll be D*MMED if I'd fly 200 feet off the water along 60 warships
to make the drop. SUICIDE, Pure & Simple....

Unfortunately the Japanese didn't think that way...
